Hello guys I hope u all r doing well! I recently upgraded from a 5 plus year old Oneplus 6 which in every aspect has been a flawless phone be it the software or the hardware or even the design. I loved it! I would have rocked it for another year if the battery could was not so bad. It was a meagre 3300mAh battery and was fine for the first three and a half years. But there is only so much you can get from such a small battery after 4 years. I could not find the original battery for it as oneplus dropped hardware support for it.
So my new upgrade is the S24 ultra. Got $100 for my OP6 via the samsung app for the upgrade. Oh and I really miss the 3.5 mm jack:banghead:

my Nokia C6-00 is also still as new as when i bought it a decade ago hahaha :D
My Nokia 5320 from 2009 is still going strong with only one battery swap!

Do they offer that on all devices or only their flagship devices?
For now its the S24 series and pixel 8 series but it should become a standard with upcoming mid to high end devices from them

Well, I'll believe it when I see it. Samsung doesn't exactly have a good reputation for keeping any of their devices up to date for any length of time. And that goes for not only Android phones but also their smart TVs as well.

I don't mind that at all. Obviously, the iPhone has been without the headphone jack for years. I have a good pair of Bluetooth headphones that I use with my phone and my computer since I can't stand wires. I like the freedom to go anywhere while either music or a YouTube talking head video is streaming to my headphones.

As far as I know that's not the case today as almost all the recent samsung phones( atleast from the last three years) get constant software updates along with monthly security updates. As far as their promise of long software upgrade support goes that's something only time will tell. Even google has been known to break their promises and stop some projects mid-life.

I don't mind that at all. Obviously, the iPhone has been without the headphone jack for years. True wireless freedom is great but for me its the batteries that are an annoyance. They degrade pretty fast and in an year or two the earbuds become unusable. I would like my tech stuff to last me atleast two years so that I can get the most out of my investment. That's a compromise between freedom and long term usability.

I have my Samsung Galaxy S10.

It's over 2 years old, and I got it through Koodo (a Canadian Mobile Carrier, that's a Subsidiary of Telus) through a $0 Promo they had going on through their Upgrade Program. I didn't have a Credit Card at the time, so I bought a $25 Visa Vanilla Pre-Paid Card and got it that way. Still can't believe it worked even to this day.

Before acquiring this, I've had:
A Samsung Galaxy S7 (which I still have).
A Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.
Some old flip phone (possibly the LG CE110 looking at pictures of old phones on GSMArena to try and jog my memory) which my Dad gave to me at the start of High School or maybe start of Grade 10, though I gotta say; I do not miss texting on that thing, at all.

I meant to say, I've upgraded to a Motorola Edge (2023) back in February. A few features are missing that I was used to with the S10 (namely the BPM and Blood Pressure Sensor, ability to scroll down when taking screenshots, and a much better Photo Editor), but it was:
A) Cheaper at $10 a month over 2 years
and
B) Had larger built-in storage (256GB) compared to Samsung's meager options.

Might try to Root the S10 at some point in the near future for kicks

Can ANYONE with a modern daily tell me if any of their phones video slo-mo modes do legitimate 480fps at 1080p (so not interpolated frames aka frame generation in desktop GPUs)

I'm seeing mixed information (I know most modern phones do 240fps @ 1080p)

Happy with the Pixel 8 after a few weeks away from the Pixel 7 Pro.

I do occasionally miss the larger screen, but the over all slightly snappier performance and significantly improved camera experience more than make up for it. Focus speed and quality are night and day different between the two; this feels like the first phone I've ever owned I can just point and shoot with zero thought and be reasonably happy with the result. Plus my hands really aren't that big, so this size is more comfortable now that I'm used to it.

honestly i dropped my phone 3 times on the first day. didnt have any case, and the glass back is super slippery. which is stupid.

fortunately no dings or cracking of the glass. guess they have some shock absorption built in
My partner dropped her Pixel 8 day two and cracked the back glass so she hates Pixels and Samsung now lol.

i really miss metal phones. I dropped my Galaxy J7 pro from my 10th floor window onto concrete road below. Thats 110 ft minimum. Only the screen broke.

Samsung S23 is very OKay for me.
No iPhones anymore, I think. Overpriced, very overpriced crap this time. Some things are how it were 10y ago there, the only "good" feature I like is restoring broken fw via iTunes (though I don't like being always updated to latest OS version, could be very slow for some models with years lol).

Switched temporarily to a iPhone SE 2020 (white), feels hella snappy when compared to the old 8 Plus. Also feels comfy that I have a phone once again which is fully usable with one hand.

Bought it used from Swappie, 149EUR + postage, it was practically in mint condition and has 96% of battery capacity.

These have a 1yr warranty. My previous phone was also bought used and I used it daily for ~4 years. Just got a newer one as it's not supported anymore and I also managed to break its home button (there's a virtual home button if cases like that happen, so Apple at least have maybe put that feature in cases of emergency).

Old phone is completely a mp3 player these days, factory reseted it to get as much free space as I can and does that job fine. :)

Google Pixel 7 Pro, but ultimately if I didn't want a half decent camera even most budget phones would do. I have two cheaper Motorola's that were very good previously, it was just the camera response and quality that let it down.

I had the 1st gen Pixel and even that had a pretty good camera. Though Apple has also improved a lot during the last years, I still remember the crappy camera which iPhone 4 had back in the day.

Mate, my first phone with a camera was a Nokia 2630 and my first smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus. Tell me about subpar cameras, and how I experimented firsthand the evolution in mobile photography.

Tell me about subpar cameras
Defective Siemens C72. That's what I had as my first phone with a cam.

Considering Huawei Nova 11, but most likely won't buy a phone this year. Still rocking an Honor 8X which is okay for my tasks but almost obliterated (damaged screen, dead speaker, super dead Vol+).

upgraded(?) from a regular 7 to a 7 plus. i don't care much for newer iOS and my current 7 has been fine - just the 2GB RAM really limits it. 7 plus has 3GB though, plus a larger screen!

Aren't the 7 and 7+ already EOL and their iOS quite outdated? I know for damn sure many apps (especially banking) don't work on the 6-series anymore here in Brazil.
