im not 100% sure the white stuff is fake it could be a newer batch because its not far off in temp tests well in the few vids ive watched the only paste i can confirm is its on par with is MX4. yes i got 3 tubes for £12 and there's deff more than 30g in a tube. when i start a new tube ill keep a count on how many go's i get from it just for fun.

the fakes from what ive seen is lighter in colour all most white and the real stuff is gray/blue. i brought 3 30g tubes id say 5 years ago and im on my second tube. when i do rigg repairs i give the customer a choice between mx4 for £5 or GD900 for free and when i tell them the only diff is the price most go for the GD. the lable's look the same so do the tubes. the web ad is www.ourGD.net on my real stuff. heres a youtube vid for what its worth.
The Best Thermal Paste for PC CPU, GPU and Laptop (youtube.com)

and heres a pc of the real stuff.

Any idea why his results seem to be a bit different from other testers? For example, NT-H1 outranked almost everything, including NT-H2, SYY-157, Gelid GC-Extreme and Kingpin KPX. I've never seen this channel before, so I have no idea how reliable it is. Thoughts?

Also, here is my 50cents of contribution. In my previous automotive company, have been tasked to find a company for thermal pad solutions. This is the one I found & which proved to be up to task. It has great pads in different thicknesses, but also thermal grease & thermal putties. Check it out:

While on my computers I have abandoned the Arctic cooling MX4 & MX6, as not worthy. So if I can't get TGlobal soon enough, my choice is Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.

Why?
Well, shortly answer is BOINC 24/7.

And thickness is determined by any pre-determined requirements for thickness, such as in a GC or laptop.

To clarify: Which T-Global thermal paste does @KLiKzg recommend for use with a processor that doesn't require a pad?

As you know, some parts in GPU & laptops use pads, instead of paste. For those, I would use anything above red line (considering only thermal conductivity), but you can go with anything above green line:
1714693856511.png

Note that with more thermal conductivity goes hardness. So be careful with the torque applied with screws!

With the Putty options, you have these comparison:
1714694024040.png

Those there is one option of TG-N8000 with 8W/mK.

With Thermal grease or paste you only have these options:
1714694133447.png

So stick to those!

Do note that all these materials are engineering samples, so you should know what you are doing in selection process. & you should also check out if there are any negative effects on computer components to using some of the chemical compounds in these samples. In other words: USE AT YOUR DISCRESION & RISK - AND ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

@GerKNG I don't know if this would matter or fix your issues at all, but whenever I seal back up my Arctic MX-6 paste, I also keep it inside two ziploc baggies, sealed (mainly because I don't want any paste getting on my other stuff in storage) but it just occurred to me this probably also keeps it better sealed from the elements and any possible issues.

Only reason I mention this is I just took out my 12600k a couple days ago and the paste was perfect on it, no gaps at all, was a perfect application. I was happy to see that, considering all the bad talk about MX-6 lately. I wonder if maybe some of you just aren't getting a good seal on your end cap/and/or need to store it more properly for redundancy like I do. No issues at all with my tube

I use SYY religiously. I swap CPUs and coolers all the time, and this is the stuff I use because it is cheap, and it is good. I get pretty good temps. Enviable maybe? It isnt earth shatteringly good, but it is better than most everythig I have used. To me its up there with TFX, but at half of the price. I have run a lot of Linpack, and for me, works very well. My kids computer is the long term test mule, 5600X still hitting 4850 like clockwork after about a year and a half.

Thank you! I wasn't going to evaluate strictly based on the thermal conductivity because I've seen that the specs don't necessarily match the results with some companies.

MX-6 application, full IHS thin layer spread (scalpel blades). Less than 2 months old, on a CPU that never exceeds 65 Celsius gaming (73C CB). I was careful to use just pull up motion when separating the surfaces, without any wiggle:

Cooler side:

IMG_20240505_151240.jpgIMG_20240505_151233.jpgIMG_20240505_151230.jpg

IHS side:

IMG_20240505_151809.jpgIMG_20240505_151820.jpgIMG_20240505_151831.jpgIMG_20240505_151836.jpg

The inner part is almost dried out and very stiff at touch, and 90% of the paste ended outside on the coldplate edges. Notice the drainage channels kinda formed a maze pattern from center to outer edges.

Applied TG Kryonaut. I'll be back with the temp differences observation after some curing period.

If your seeing alot of paste around the edges of the IHS and coolers cold plate then you're putting to much on only use enough to get a thin coating spread across the IHS

I feel like it's better having a bit too much than far too little myself. I like to get decent starting coverage then add a touch more in the center that can spread as it cures. I've never had a problem yet with how I go about applying thermal paste so not about to change my methodology to it.

mine never looks like this. I don't know what's going on, maybe there is some fake shit going around in a mx-6 box. I don't these he is from USA either, so might be the case here, same with @GerKNG maybe outside of USA shipped and sold by Amazon or shipped by Amazon Sold by Arctic is the only legit way to get true Arctic mx-6? no idea, but I have had 0 issues with mine and it looks perfect, even on my 5600x3d which had it on for like a year it looked really good when I removed the 5600x3d like 8 months later.

I'm going to buy a Kryosheet or Frostsheet when this current tube of mx-6 runs out though.

You'll be back :D

it will probably be with MX-4 if I do come back, it seems like the safest bet as long as you buy from Amazon Arctic official store. but to be honest I have had 0 issues with my mx-6 and I still have a lot of paste left... so it will be awhile.

I remember when you used to bug me when I first started buying all the new Thermalright coolers, and telling the world how good they are. Now look at how many people are using them, and recommending them. It took me a bout a solid year, maybe 2 to get the word out. It is the same with SYY, I think its a good product, so I keep recommending it. Of course you do not have to buy it, but I will keep recommending it :)
