I have an Antec P6 build that I have been updating for a while now.
Yesterday I added a Samsung 980 PRO to it and I consider the build finished.

Hardware: Intel 12600KF (stock) -- Kingston 6200 MHz CL36 -- Sapphire RX 7600 -- BIOSTAR B760MZ-E PRO -- Antec P6 -- Xilence XP550 -- ARCTIC i35 -- EVO 850 500GB -- 980 PRO 500GB

Software: Calculate Linux, KDE Plasma, Mesa open-source driver, XFS file system

I am going to install OpenBSD on the Samsung 980 PRO 500GB, so that I can run both Calculate Linux and OpenBSD on fast drives.

In a few years the Xilence XP550 will be 20 years old, but my system is more stable than most new Windows 10/11 and macOS systems at the moment.
I'm thinking of keeping this power supply for a few more years and then replacing it.
the cables looks like blast from the past, retro cables

I built this back in high school, 2008, with help from this wonderful community :). Never had to buy a 2nd case until I decided to build a 2nd system for my gf and now that I'm shopping for cases for the first time since 2008, every case I see has heat-trapping glass or similar preventing airflow on 2 to 3 of 4 sides.

All original hardware other than the I/O hub still work (accidentally shorted it out like 15 years ago by smacking a USB device sticking out of the front). I removed and cleaned the stock fans last week and they still work like new. Sure, it gets a bit dusty without a dust filter on the bottom, but I don't keep mine on casters, I regularly vacuum my place and do a proper full system cleaning every 6 months or so. I love how much room you have to work with and how much my system can breathe from all surfaces other than the back-plate side. With minimal cooling, a single CPU tower fan and the stock case fans, my temps have always been low, and as someone with big hands I love how much room there is to work with.

I'm old enough now to understand that "they don't make them like they used to" is accurate in most cases, pun not intended.

Is there really no proper successor to this case?

also, does anyone know where I can get spare parts for this guy? Would love to get a custom or replacement I/O module, specifically. I'll pay absurd amounts for it.

This will be my new(er) HTPC.
Replacing the i5-8600k with the 5600X. I game far less on this so the 5600x will suffice, it will also sport the GTX 1080 ti.
5600X+B550iAX.jpg

On the test bench, soon it will be installed in the Mercury S3.

There might be, but I sure hope not!

I still have my Stacker on wheels, but I would never use it again :D

I saw the Nvidia version of the HAFX yesterday for the first time in many years, god was it hideous.

You see it everyday, so it brings comfort.

I still like the military-industrial design of my HAF 932 and IIRC its appearance was polarizing in 2008 too. Oh dear, that Nvidia HAFX is.. something else hahah. Never heard of the stacker, but that's indeed huge.

Ultimately what drew me to this case in 2008 wasn't its outward appearance but its overall value in terms of function-first design, accessibility and quality of materials. I would just buy another 932 if I could find one in good condition.

Bought a 15 euro, usb powered, small desk fan for the chipset, temps went from 60-75c to 49-56c.
Waiting for the Noctua Home fan to replace this contraption.

I mean...why? Chipsets are meant to be buried below a tri-slot GPUs for quite some time now. Otherwise these would still sell like hot cakes:

Zalman.jpgimages.jpg

Just curious why would you need to stick a fan in there? Let it go IMO ;)

EDIT: on a side note...since I bought a low-profile card....I could do it. Alright, the tinkering bug has bit me now.

Believe it or not it makes me feel better.
I get what you're saying but when anything in my rig goes beyond 60c my OCD goes berserk, i hate it, i can barely get over the AMD burst loads taking the cpu to 70c+ for half a second or less, those chipset temps would have made me hang myself LOL.
I have mental issues, i know. :D

I thought the whole point of X570S was that the chipset was suppose to run cooler so it didn't need an actual fan. At what RPM are you running the front fans?

That was the point of X570S ofcourse.

I run the 3x 140mm Silent Wings 4 PRO 2.5Krpm in front at 900-1200rpm, the second or third step of the DBP 901 controller when i'm not gaming and full tilt/fifth step when i am gaming.

I tried keeping the fans at the fourth and fifth step(1900-2500K rpm) during the day and it worked up to a point, meaning they were doing the job, the chipset would stay at 60-65c, but were very loud when i was trying to pay attention to things other than gaming or listening to music.
The next problem is that i sleep 0.5m away from my pc and it's on while i sleep. I can't keep it fifth or fourth step while i'm trying to sleep, i have to turn it down to first/second stept at most.

So because of all these problems i opted for an extra vent for the chipset, this one works wonders and it's almost dead silent; when the Noctuas Home arrive, those will be even better and all my chipset temp and noise problems will be solved.

One thing is for sure tho: the bottom 3 fans on the Torrent mattered so much for cooling the chipset and GPU.

Finally done, the Arctic BBC is out, the Pure Loop 2 280mm is in.

The Noctua Home fans were superbly built, silent and efficient but totally useless for the task at hand. They're too close and have no angle towards the chipset.

I'm back to the 15 euro no name fan in the case.

So yeah, I know, I swap a lot with hardware. I've decided the GTX 1080 ti will be paired with the 8600k, and leave this build with the regular 1080.
And considering the 1080 ti has a water block the 8600k will be watered too..in the Cooler Master NR200.
It's currently in its testing phase, just to see if it will fit and how much blood it will take to put the clamps on.

I'm using the XSPC slim 240 radiator along with the Barrow pump/cpu block combo. Tomorrow putting on the clamps, and leak testing.

Edit: it's tomorrow; so now it's leak testing time.

PS: I made some tubes longer so it's easier to pull the radiator out without completely removing it.

And finished the upgraded VR-&HTPC. Technically only the case stayed the same.

The Arctic LF3 240 is overkill for the 5600X but it sure is silent. I have removed the clear plastic sheet from the panel so the RTX3070 can breath without issue.

Edit: I think the 5600X is bust, it wouldn't perform smoothly. So I changed it with the 5800X and now it works like a charm.

This is what it normally looks like, with the cover off, but there is a metal perforated cover.
