Just started New Star GP, now on sale.
It's race 1, and this is the normal difficulty, so this is way too easy I guess. I won by ~30s.
20240603200518_1.jpg

But I'm more worried about getting into unwinnable situations, so...
Edit: The harder difficulty tolerates at most 2 major mistakes before I completely lose any chance to win (and the game has a rewind function), so that is the right difficulty for me.

This is what I supposed to post last time.

never expected fsr3 implementation to be this good, i mean i have an ancient gpu by today's standards and i know how bad it struggles in other modern games. Not only the fsr3 implementation in this game provide decent fps boost but also it looks really good like native resolution.

Diablo IV on PC Game Pass. Got a month for free and binging the story of Diablo IV, its been a lot more fun than I was expecting. Diablo III and IV do synergy really well, I feel my build is unique, even if it isn't, and the synergy of all the abilities also feels unique and not easy to replicate, even though it probably is. That's the genius of these games I think. My necromancer is so freaking overpowered... I have 8 skeleton warriors and 5 mages up at any time, and all my items are tempered to give my minions bonus damage, and I have one codex of power to boost minion power too, and just overall a badass build.

I am in Act III of story now, so a while to go still, so far the bosses have been too easy though because Necromancer is just so overpowered, that's only downside at the moment is I only felt challenged on two occasions, but I can't raise the difficulty past World Tier II since I have not beat the game yet.

Been into a couple shoot 'em ups lately
Natsuki Chronicles
I don't normally like these games that lean into the anime stuff, that is not my cup of tea. But I got this along with Ginga Force, which I don't like very much, for less than a $1. It was like $1.90 for buying both games when they were on sale lol. So I was willing to give it a try at that price. Glad I did because just Natsuki Chronicles was worth it. I'm more of R-Type and Gradius type shoot 'em fan rather than the crazy bullet hell style. This game likes to explore the array of styles, which is neat. Some stages are slower and more methodical, much like R-Type, and others are faster and more chaos with tons of bullets and baddies on screen to avoid. The one thing I don't get about either of these games is how they presented to the story in story mode.....why the hell they left in the Japanese dialogue and put in English text/subtitles.....who the hell can read text along the top of the screen in the middle of a high paced shoot 'em up?! Literally impossible to read this shit without risking a death! :kookoo:

20240605184135_1.jpg

Schildmaid MX
This game has pixel art for the retro look and is more on the bullet hell side of things. The schtick here is you are meant to run into the (purple) bullets to engage your shield, and you must keep killing enemies to maintain the shield. Go too long, and now your shields are down and you are vulnerable to dying. So even though it's more on the bullet hell side, it's got methodical planning going on that I like from old school shooters in the sense of when you use your shields and attack power up is at times critical to beating a stage. It's a neat take on the whole "bullet absorbing" style of shoot 'em ups

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
I've played through the 2013 Tomb Raider and the sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider at least a few times each, couple times on Xbox 360 and a couple times when I got them again on PC. I only played through Shadow of the Tomb Raider once on PC pretty close to when it came out. I put in 60hours on it and got to 90 something percent completed. Now that this is my first replay through this game, I'm convinced THIS is how the first two games in the reboot trilogy should have been. This game is all the good stuff, with not really anything worth complaining about in my opinion. Exploration, puzzles, and actual tomb raiding are the focus and combat has taken a back seat. Majority of combat can be done via stealth too. This is much better to me. There was too much combat in the other games, especially Rise of the Tomb Raider. My goal this time around is to get a higher completion percentage

^Checking the footage, Ginga looks like absolute bullet hell for me. Natsuki - indeed seems interesting, I just placed it in the cart, might pull the trigger while still cheap.

Yeah, except the entire story and world tiers you start in are really just easy mode altogether ;) Just you wait, the scaling will kill your fun. But if you stop before that, ignorance is bliss :) Ironically Diablo IV is best if you play as little of it as possible. A real token of great design, that!

I finished the Diablo IV story last night, doing world tier 3 now and just doing some dungeons for fun, did my first helltide. upgraded my gear again. 35% bonus experience and gold bonus right now for the 1 year only event they do. so i will probably take advantage of my lucky timing on that and go to level 70 and world tier 4, especially since necro is so OP right now, i can beat the whole game including tier 4 lilith for free thanks to game pass, then i will quit and move on to a different game pass game.

I'm actually having more fun than I expected, but thats largely due to the one time a year event bonuses that kickstarted my after story fun.

Oh yeah it'll last till 70. I managed to perservere until 85, though the last five were a slog :D Then I burned out.
Still good fun while it lasts, I agree, it doesn't play badly at all. Its just very repetitive and there are no more 'omg this is progress' moments anymore at some point, after realizing that, that's kinda where I turned away from it. There are so many systems that look great at first glance, but later turn into drawbacks because it all feels similar. The Aspects are a good example, they kill uniqueness of itemization, the irony couldn't be greater. Or paragon points, that are not meaningful except for the special skill tweaks you can get.

I finally killed Herr Möller in Sniper Elite 5. That last mission sucked because I had the M1 Carbine with a short scope. I had to spam-fire to finally get him. Next and last mission: Target Führer

Idk what is going on in that game lol, Ginga Force that is. I SUCK at it! Took me an hour to beat the first level on normal difficulty :banghead:

I got to give it more of a chance but I am so far in the minority of thinking Natsuki Chronicles is the better of the two. I definitely would recommend Natsuki at the very least! Pull that trigger, pew pew!

I'm on my way to my second lvl 100 'Frozen Orb Sorc and lvling a Minion Necro atm' in the current season, its much faster now and they changed a bunch of stuff vs the previous season.
Theres the new item tempering system that can buff/support various builds a lot and also Masterworking as an end game activity with the new Pit where the materials drop. 'basically Greater Rifts from D3'
And if you feel like that your build is something crazy/busted OP then you can try the lvl 200 über bosses or push high in the Pit. 'lvl 100 is considered an achievement currently but imo its a bit broken atm so I don't bother pushing it that far and simply farm the lower mid levels for materials'

What I don't like about Tempering is that you can actually brick your perfectly rolled item with it cause lets say there are 5 possible Temper options and you need 1 maybe 2 for your build and the rest is trash/doesn't support your build and ofc you only roll the bad ones and you have limited numbers of rolls/try on each item.. 'happend to me multiple times, its quite annoying when I finally find a good upgrade and then off to the trash it goes cause I've failed my tempering. Like if I can't roll the chance to cast Frozen Orb twice temper on a Wand then its useless to my current Sorc'
Especially bad when it happens with a new Greater Affix rolled item thats perfect for you cause those can be quite rare. 'its basically a Legendary that rolled with higher than normal stat/s since more than 1 stat can roll GA on an item so bricking a multi stat GA item is a total pissoff'

Either way this patch/update was a step into the right direction, if I don't count the Tempering issues and the high level Pit problems then everything else is better than before. 'supposedly they are aware of the problems along with the lack of gold'

What range?

M1 carbine was considered effective with iron sights to ~150 yards historically.

Yeah, still sounds in every possible way like something Im staying miles away from. Last Epoch was a lot more enjoyable to me. Cool builds, tons of options, totally freeform itemization. The end game is also a farm fest, but the progression still very meaningful as you unlock more and more huge passives.

Last Epoch is cool and so are a few other ARPGs that I like, I don't have any problem with that but there is 1 thing that no other ARPG does as well as Diablo does for me and thats the gameplay in general and its what draws me back every Season or so even if only for a few weeks. 'between Seasons if I feel like playing an ARPG thats when I play some other ones'
Idk how to put it but it just feels more 'polished' and fun to me especially when I got my build going. 'This Frozen Orb Sorc is just a madness eye candy with tons of things going on on the screen, too bad that its not exactly great vs bosses but eh can't have everything  '

Also yay for another game to distract me from my backlog and whatever else..
Thought I would try Wuthering Waves since I love that kind of a fast/reaction based flashy combat + I liked the art style too and now this is what I was playing all day instead of the other games I was supposed to be playing. 'yes its also a gacha game like Genshin but eh it seems to be decently generous for f2p players too so eh it doesn't really bother me since I'm used to being a f2p anyway'

Got lucky for once and managed to pull the new char I was interested in with only 20 pulls so I can't complain this time..
Tbh I have no idea if I'm gonna play this long term or not but I will defo try to reach the end game content and check it out at least and then maybe play it casually later.

I agree with the eye candy and polished thoughts, Blizzard may not be as good as they used to be, but they are still AAA kings compared to a lot of AAA game developers, and they should be considering the resources and reach they have.

Ironically Diablo IV is best if you play as little of it as possible. A real token of great design, that!
made me start playing Diablo III all over again
I finished the Diablo IV story last night, doing world tier 3 now and just doing some dungeons for fun, did my first helltide. upgraded my gear again.
jump to Tier IV, it's not that hard at lv 70-75. Start doing nightmare dungeons, pit runs, tree of whispers with helltides, world bosses, you will jump 4-5 levels in an hour. The grind comes in once you have your gear and lv100 and there is nothing left but pit & dungeon runs. Level 75-100 was a blast

What range?

M1 carbine was considered effective with iron sights to ~150 yards historically.
Eh..I don't remember. I couldn't see the dude clearly though. But I'll replay the mission and get back to ya.

Edit: 217 meters or 237 yards
