It was all over YT too lol. She got fired then she tried to sue the police dept for wrongful/illegal termination as she was a victim etc.

Victim card of course, if she had full intent to do what she did then I doubt she has any legal stand.

The thing is. When people found out about it and the news spread about it. She was just temporarily suspended or confined to desk duties... Then random youtubers and other 'sovereign citizen' types started turning up at the depot or office she was located at and asking if they could be the next in line to get some because they were the tax payer and her being a police officer had a duty to serve the community etc etc.

I think secretly there was a lot of people that wanted her to stay while a lot of people were calling up the Mayor/police commissioner (whoever is in charge) and telling them to fire her. Thats how the story blew up.

I have my great grandfathers birth certificate and another document that shows he was born in London, but immigration doesn't care unless its your grandfather. I still think there should be a special rule that says if your ancestry can date bake so many centuries to actual land on England's soil you can be granted citizenship. It's such bs they let in so many people but not the ancestral people.

it only counts if you it was a grandmother or grandfather that was born in England, but yes under my proposed rule if you could prove it through family tree lineage databases then yes 1600's would work. my family line goes back to the Shropshire region to the 1400's, but I never want to live there, Birmingham is destroying that county sadly. I never feel safe when I am in that city.

damn, you are lucky, if I had a grandma from Bristol I would have moved to Cornwall ages ago. like 10 years ago. I love it there, only place in the world I am happy.

Cornwall is my fave place in the uk too. I have said to my other half, if we ever ger the cash that's where we'll be living. It is expensive though for housing etc as it is so popular, and relatively small.

Well not much you can do about it once it hits the social media sphere.

I have never been to Cornwall before but what so special about it? The weather in the UK just makes living near the ocean/sea just doesn't sound fun to me.

Im not sure if the other guys either resigned or got fired. With that amount of publicity, i think they did but from a lot of the comments i've seen. Theres nothing stopping these individuals from going to work as a cop again in an different area or region. That seems to be normally what happens when members of the police force cause a lot of drama that makes it into the public eye. They'll get fired or resign without any legal repercussions and go do exactly the same job elsewhere.

There is a lot of bias/corruption when it comes to policing in the U.S and more often then not, they will 'protect their own' so to speak.

If they didn't get dismissed then that would be crazy, but since they are "anonymous" they probably get get re-hired elsewhere but it would be interesting in the interview process.

I personally like the rain, but outside of that when I was in Cornwall it didn't rain a single time, I was told I was just very lucky though.

I keep up with English news (not british), specifically I only have the England section bookmarked from BBC for my news as I plan to live in Cornwall someday (if I ever get rich). Anyways, I have noticed an abnormal amount of speeding in cars/motorcycles and crashes in England this year, not sure whats going on with people over there, but I never seen this many news articles in one year of crashes and injuries from speeding/wrecks in ages.

I think they need to add more speedtrap cameras and increase the fine on ticketing, hurt people in their wallet and they will slow down, you bet your right arse they will lads! I still don't feel safe biking in England, probably never will, but in Finland I have no problem biking there, as they have loads of wide bike lanes in several cities, etc.

In my opinion, driving fast is not the problem. Driving like a dimwit is. When somebody tries to drive faster than their skills / car / road conditions would allow. For that reason, I agree with strict speed limits in tightly packed residential areas, and around schools, but it should be abolished on country roads and motorways.


And because of real estate and cost of living prices. This is my main reason for not buying a house and instead, looking for retirement somewhere else when the time comes.

Ya, some people still buy the house then sell it as extra retirement funds, then retire in Mexico or somewhere in the Caribbean or Central America. Nice weather and less money. What's the closest inexpensive/nice weather place to the UK? Greece?

I was thinking exactly of Greece to be honest. Spain is also a popular UK retirement home. The missus and I are in the fortunate situation that she is from Lithuania, and I'm from Hungary, so we have somewhere to go even if all else fails, and have nice weather at least in the summer.

Buying a house only to sell it as a retirement fund sounds like a good plan, if not for the extremely fluctuating mortgage prices. A colleague of mine paid less than 700 per month last year, but they increased it to 900 this year. I'm not sure I could swallow such an increase.
