(Sapphire RX580-8G) help flash on position2

Hello ,

would like to ask if it is possible to easily flash back the original stock rom and where to find it?

it is card named

SAPPHIRE PULSE RADEON RX 580 8G GDDR5 DUAL HDMI/DVI-D/DUAL DP OC WBP (UEFI)
it has
PN 299-4E353-830SA
SKU 11265-05

one flash has gone wrong previously one position 1 , afterwards card was sent in for flash for Macvidcard ROM, but got the card back as unflashable/error card;

but only position 1 gives error "error reading ROM"
position 2 seems flashable;


it tried several ROM from official database with "amdflash" for DOS, and 1 or 2 functioned, other gave error ; but get no picture.


the card has Samsung memeoruy.

thosein bracket can be other number it is bably legible

have tried from those but does not seem to get DVI output?

several could flash, also previously from official repository (17 8GB models, from those only few pulse 8GB , and from those 1-2 samsung e353)
but there is no output from DVI;
i know card has functioned previsouly, what could be wrong now?

do i need another program than amdflash DOS? function better with 3431a programmer or the like?
sorry if inistent.

position1 always says "error read from rom", but position2 should give image?

Why arent you using amdvbflash 2.93 for Windows?

is 2.93 a special version?
did try to open 2.84 if reemmber , and it would open under windows 7 in GUI and let program.

Did you follow flash guide of eidairaman1?

For RX 500 Series (Polaris) and Older:

Get amdvbflash 2.93

Then look for Version 4.68, underneath 4.68 you will see a link to show older version, click that and you should see version 2.93

Follow these steps carefully:

1. Open your "C:" drive in Windows, create a new folder, call it atiflash.

2. Extract the contents of atiflash_293.zip to the "C:\atiflash" folder

3. Find the bios file you downloaded and rename the bios file to 5 digits with .rom on end Example RX 580, change file to rx580.rom (r****.rom)

4. Move r****.rom to the "C:\atiflash" folder

5. Open the start menu, type cmd, when cmd.exe appears right click it and hit "Run as administrator"

6. At the command prompt type in cd\ and press enter until only C:\> is on the screen.

7. Type in cd/atiflash and press enter, you should see C:\atiflash>

8. Type in amdvbflash.exe -i to identify the gpu you want to flash with a 0, 1, or 2)

9. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0
(there is a space between the e and -unlockrom and 0)(0 is the number zero)
press enter and you will be prompted that the "ROM Unlocked" (or 1, 2)

10. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 r****.rom
(there is a space between the .exe and -f, and a space between -f and -p and 0).
(Or 1, 2)

Press Enter

Follow directions on screen and if flash is successful exit the command prompt and restart, windows should show up on screen.

Possible the dvi port is damaged or you got a mining card with wrong heatsink attached...

tried with those last BIOS you shared , 3 out of 4 would be flashable, but still get no picture.
using 2.93 with added flag "-f" does not seem to make a difference;
thought maybe the 300W power is not enough to deliver a picture (since CPu is athlon x4 consumes already) but then the picture would also not arrive on the Mac which has rather beefy power delivery unit.
also, gpu-z does not show a difference when 2.93 is used when compared to amdvflash dos.

now i know that this GPU functioned when i received it (used) since i had it in the MacPro and it would just function;
now i was stupid enough to flash a "macrom" that someone shared online here at techpwerup probably and tought this will give me EFI bootscreen; but afterwards (after flashing) it went black;
so i got bit anxious (card was expensive even used) and thought it is good to send it to professional flashing service for Mac;
but apparently this did not solve, even complicated further, since got it back with position 2 also unusable and position1 showing "fail to read ROM" error; now the flasher told me he had lots of trouble with the card and maybe made some intervention, i dont know;

but this is the card, and the Ram is Samsung, and the sticker on the card is genuine;
if heatsink has been changed , could not know, but it does not look like it; certainly it does not look like a Nitro eidtion.

have tried also with a HDMI to vga adapter, same no picture black screen, but computer clearly bootin up.

EDIT: saw that GPU-Z report memory as Micron, but this does not match the memory modules on card which clearly have indication "samsung".

Can you make a clear picture of the PCB?

300 watts, you should be closer to 550 on a Good unit, Go try it in another system that has a 600w+ good psu, different monitor, if anything im still leaning the dvi port circuit is damaged or missing

Components like memory saw beter times, some traces and a coil are damaged. Sorry to bring bad news. Card is ready for the trash bin.

I doubt it is you that damaged it but who you got it from that damaged it, the card is toast, only other options are to just accept it as is, to hire a pcb repair company or throw the card away ...

if i may , have found another card that got used but then defective from ebay some years ago.

now this card looks really well, but it gave garbled image.

now took the courage and disassembled like rx580 this 7950 HD OC, all besides the cooler, and i looks so well, cant believe it would not work (in fact never got it running on Mac and have had no workstation PC with the wattage, cables)

but also this one as i see only now, has a BIOS switch , so i will turn it to the right (maybe position 2) , so the card could work? this one will be hard to power with 300W , but will give a try.

this is a little bit a strange card aswell, i f may add;

On the MacPro i have a Win10 HDD up and running, with the drivers in place for RX 580.
Swapped the RX 580 with the "faulty" MSI 7950 and the MacPro booted with two display attached; It gave perfect picture, no garbled screen, with "Display Mirroring". Went ahead an disabled display mirroring and had perfect extended display for some time, i think until the HDD finished loading all the drivers, as suddenly both monitor went black. I think this happened maybe because Windows 10 finished loading the display drivers for Adrenalin Software RX580?

Remember the seller now years ago stated sthat the card has problems with driver loading, that when driver installed, there is error;
now , on Windows PC, if i would install the AMD driver, i would also get black screen for monitor; if i don't , i get normal screen during boot-up, and then garbled image. (yesterday i had perfect image without driver on VGA-switch-position 2, today also on position2 there is garbled image).
thought at the time of auction it won#t affect me much windows driver issue since planning to use it on MacPro; but on there, it would give no image whatsoever.

So maybe this card need special MSI driver? and the AMD Driver for download (Adrenalin 22.6.1) is too specific? Cannot find driver downloads for the Card on MSI page, maybe they removed them.

tried to flash your images,
BIOS 180 would flash with no difference in "garbledness",
BIOS 160 would give error wrong platforum or similar.

thw windows splash screen is shown like pristine, but after coming into windows (7) there is garbled image (see picture) or black screen (if installed amd drivers?);
also, if attempted to install windows xp, the installer shows some letters are pixled up, so maybe this gpu is toast aswell after all? it does look well, but there are so tiny components, that you could barely make out with the naked eye.
