3 month old drive. within the first month it would completely freeze on image transfers. it would simply say not responding and it was on 0. over and over

I contacted them. they want to give me what i paid for it but the item was at a lower price and free shipping. now it will cost me far more. and I need to buy a new drive anyway.

anyone have an issue like this? I dont want the money. I want a replacement drive
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

btw, they said they would send a refund to paypal and I needed to show that i destroyed the drive. sounds weird.

just ask for a replacement part or one that is similar in performance... normally companies give replacement parts unless you specifically asks for a refund

yes NM790 1tb. getting over 1 tb is over the $75 amount where I dont have to pay customs fees and that simply isnt worth buying from overseas.

yes im waiting for a reply if they can send a new one. they previously said they would refund my money after proof I had destroyed the drive.

Hello Amir,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately at the moment the SSD is not available in Lexar warehouses and we cannot guarantee timing for the next availability.

With the refund, we can suggest you to make a new purchase from one of our trusted third-party sellers, including Amazon.

We will remain at your service for any other help.

Best regards,

Is there a personal reason you don’t buy those brands?

It sucks that the drive failed so soon, but they seem to have a decent refund policy. Take the money and buy a different brand since you aren't happy with the RMA outcome.

It is not Lexars fault you had free shipping. The best you can legally get here is 2-5 bucks. I would spend my time in a better way ;)

For other brands, maybe a similar priced Kingston?

so i want a replacement. its not their fault, but not mine that I have to take a refund. warranty says replacement.

kingston are "ok" . I like kingston, but they are not higher end. I could just buy mushkin if I want lower end. no offense to mushkin or kingston. they were the best back in the days for ram. but I remember mushkin with tons of issues with latency with their ssd and kind of tarnished its rep with me. the same with crucial micron. they had defective ssd they were selling and gave people the run around. so they are out.

refund is pretty normal in our country and especially if the item was cheaper when bought
not sure about your warranty detail but refund is almost always an option for seller - the product may be out of stock etc.
proof of destroying the product is also normal - e.g. Steelseries wants pictures and sometimes video of you breaking in 2 pieces and cutting the cable with scissors:)

I would just accept the refund and buy something else, not that the product is bad but faulty series can happen

Ask them to refund a receipt from a new purchase.

I had a similar issue with Amazon, I brought an Xbox Series controller on sale, it was defective, so contacted them, and was offered a refund and told to repurchase, by this time the sale had ended, so I pushed on a replacement, but as soon as I explained my reason to be fair they backed down and got the replacement shipped out.

Whenever I RMA stuff I usually have to pay VAT and import duty again. Technically I can claim that back but we're talking about doing tedious government online forms during my free time to which I give a higher monetary value than my effective hourly rate.

This is why I invoke the "return to retailer" option whenever possible. If something's broken, return it for a refund because warranties take longer to process and often incur charges that the retailer would cover.

That is the exact business model of things like mail-in-rebates and free games.
In the case governments with import duties and taxes, it's simply a one-size-fits-all approach that does not really fit anyone.

This is where a manufacturers pre-paid postage label comes into play. I have NEVER had to pay any extra import duties or VAT charges even when Corsair were shipping replacements to me from as far as Taiwan.

If they dont provide you with a pre-paid shipping label. It wont kill you to ask. Some manufacturers will give you a PPSL up front while some wont till you ask and most of the time if you dont ask, you dont get and the manufacturer gets to keep more of their cash in their pocket while you get mugged.

whatever it is thats being returned has already had duties paid when your retailer bought them into the country through the manufacturers distribution/logistics network for people to purchase and you should have paid VAT when you bought one. You shouldnt need to pay duty or VAT on it AGAIN if its an item being returned from a repair or exchange.

If this happened to me, i would be disputing the fees/charges with customer service immediately.

>if you dont ask, you dont get and the manufacturer gets to keep more of their cash in their pocket.

this is it exactly. if you dont push or try then theyll take the easiest way with you that protects their pocket.

we could do it another way as this is partly what they suggested. pay me through paypal when I sign their waiver certificate AND I show them I destroyed the ssd. ok, so ill show proof the ssd was destroyed and send me a confirmation you sent out a new ssd registered mail.

Standard practice, Logitech does this in their RMA process as well. It's to prevent you from just repairing the product that would have been RMA'd.

I think you got unlucky, I've had an NS100 (really dirt cheap super low end SSD) for a number of years now and it is completely fine. I'm going to purchase an enclosure for it sometime soon and convert it into an "USB stick" of sorts, 256 GB internal drives have long outlived their usefulness.

mine started failing in 3 weeks. transferring images and it would go up and down in speed. then randomly goto 0mb and hang and said not responding on transfer. since I use this to edit wedding images, I cant take a chance. when I see a drive behave weird 1 time, thats it, its out. I have backups but as soon as I see 1 time, I have to replace it.

logitech is also on my list of no buy. theyve gone down the hill since the mx518 and even the 3 button pilot I started with. they make cheap garbage or overpriced garbage.

I have many lexar products. im not negging on lexar. i use their uhsii sd cards for wedding work. I also have 2 ns100 sata drives

I want a replacement. ill send them a video that it was destroyed but I want a replacement drive. not money. I still got a card up my sleeve I will have no choice but to use if they dont send me a replacement.
