Who exactly is the clown here?

I was playing vidya (mostly Postal 2, Worms: Armageddon and other outdated titles) on my "DLSS" machine. The problem is sometimes, I witness brightness and contrast levels go up beyond any reason after closing the game. Happens more often if the game crashed. These crashes have absolutely nothing to do with the GPU illnesses: they happen because of generally poor old DX and OpenGL emulation, or known game bugs. Native DX11/12/Vulkan games run with zero instability. Not a single benchmark had been capable of crashing my GPU.

Latest Win 10, latest drivers, everything had been factory reset. Fresh Windows install didn't do any trick. I don't run anything overclocked.

Do I blame AMD or do I blame M$? Is there a fix for that?

Old games may use DirectDraw instead of Direct3D, which isn't exactly "good" on Windows 10/11.
Just dual boot with Windows 7, and see how things work there.

I'd say it's display driver related since the brightness/contrast are being skewed. I used to have a problem similar to this in the past with my AMD card, sometimes it would boot up windows with very low brightness/contrast and I'd have to restart the display driver for it to go back to normal.

It may also be worth trying with HDMI/DP (whichever your not using currently) and seeing if it changes at all.

Not 100% sure if you can game on them but if you are running 'pro' edition of windows 10 or 11. You should be able to set up a virtual machine. Ive never done it before personally but the feature is there.

But then again are any of your displays HDR capable? that could be a culprit, since it's been known that windows "Clown" doesn't handle that feature particularly well.

I have HDR forced to be disabled because it doesn't work properly no matter what I try. And yes, I checked, it's not HDR.

Could be both. There's a reason I prefer to keep old hardware around for playing old titles and it has everything to do with the weird slop of bleeding edge DX9/10 drivers, the weird rainbow lines and infini-zoom in subtractive world Unreal style games around door frames or some weird issue with skyboxes, the way certain graphics are processed where transparency outright fails with opaque blacks, colorshifted material textures, it's endless. This entire issue is what has me spinning wildly apart trying to come up with suitable hardware for streaming old games. If it can't be main'd from a VM then it has to be hardware capture as if it's a console and that means using PCI-E lanes that I don't exactly have on those systems...It's a mess. Good luck.

Nvidia GPU doing this? You happen to have Nvidia App installed and RTX HDR enabled + dynamic RTX saturation? Also could be a monitor problem. Had a Phillips TV once that acted up like fuck all the time as PC monitor.
