I purchased this drive Dec 2023, and used as a steam library.
In May 2024 I started noticing "marmot" errors in Destiny 2 indicating game files being corrupt. I began standard troubleshooting for the game, with verifying files reinstalling etc.
Over next 2 months errors became more common I tested other games including PoE, Counter Strike 2 and Dark and Darker, game files couldnt be read.
I could easily recreate this error each time, and drive would be unusable until system reset.
Installing games on other drive I had in my system seemed to fix the errors.
Ive contacted Samsung support, and after a long back and forth and sending them over my drive twice, they agreed to send me new/refurbished (package was opened) drive.
The issue persist. Support was adamant that my old 990 Pro was fine and that its my PCs issue.
Things Ive done so far while issue persists:
-update BIOS to latest
-run PC stock (no OC, no DOCP profile)
-turn full power mode in samsung magician
-removed other drives except 990 Pro and installed fresh system on it
-tested both m.2 slots
I include screenshots from samsung magician and Dark and Darker (from old drive), Crystal Disk info is of the replacement drive.
Today Ive installed 990 Pro in my SFF build (specs in signature)... and no issues. That being said x370 doesnt support pcie 4.0 so idk.
At the moment Im running Adata XPG SX8200 (a pcie 3.0 drive) on my main system instead.
I dont have another pcie 4.0 drive to test.
Any ideas what else could be at fault here? or what else could I test?
