Does the T3500 have the functionality so the computer turns off if the cpu gets to warm?
Yes, the T3500 has the thermal throttle and thermal shut-off functionality built in.

I had that motherboard options about different temperaturs on a old Acer Aspire T120 bios. But the motherboard was a Elitegroup KM400-M Rev. 1.0B Mainboard Sockel 462 AGP.
Not sure how that applies here.

One thing about Dell BIOS error messages. Fan Fail and maybe some others need to be cleared manually in the BIOS. This can cause confusion if you've fixed the problem but the error message persists. I think it's SYSlog where they reside. It's pretty easy to tell when a Dell is starting to get hot. The big industrial fan(s) start screaming at you.

If someone needs it:
Dell T5810 workstation modded bios with turbo hack and rebar enabled.
Only an external programmer can write to the flash chip (like cheap ch341b). The flash chip located under the blue end of pcie connector.

DellT5810_Turbo_50_50_rebar.rom

This has been modified to all core turbo hack with xeon v3 cpu-s, added -50mv to vcore and imc for better turbo (all xeon cpu can handle it!)
The best cpu for this workstation is the 2696v3, 18 core, 3.8ghz all core turbo, or the 2699v3 18 core 3.6ghz all core turbo with this hack.
Only the v3 cpus works with this hack, not recommended to use v4 cpu with this modded bios! (early v3 or v4 ES cpus also not working, only the retail, oem, QS v3)
I dont know about the 46xxv3 series, probably works.
Also added Resizable bar feature enabled by default but needs to enable system configuration\memory map above 4g, and needs to disable CSM and legacy roms

After the flash run the exe file and set the rebar size (8gb works!)

Hi im new to the thread and I have a dell precision t5810 with a 1650v4 and an rx vega 56 (flashed with vega 64 bios, an undervolt/overclock and a 1100mhz HBM2 vram OC). I plan on getting the 2696v3 or a 1650v3 for overclocking since I cant do anything with a locked 1650v4. I thought getting a 1650v3 and performing an all core overclock will result in more performance than my 1650v4. What I would like to know is if the bios mod would also allow me to do more than just an all core max turbo and instead do an all core turbo Overclock

2618L v3 in dell t5810.
8c 16t 75w low power cpu
It is not so low power when all core hack is active . Works at 150w, 3.4ghz all core turbo.
Not all dimm are compatible, my 2933 hynix DJR modules not working only the 2133 dimms.

I bought a bios programmer and was ready to flash but then I see the file is no longer available in your file .io link. If you can, please fix it or provide me with the file another way. If you cant I guess ill have to figure all of this out on my own unfortunately (also sorry for bumping an old part of this thread)

Sorry to ask (didn’t read 126 pages) but I have 2 Precisions (T3600 T5600, dont recall the specs besides having 32GB of ram) and that I haven’t used in a long while.

Are they worth selling instead of trashing them?

I dont have much use for them.

Just for testing 2696v3 vs 2698v3 with all core turbo hack. (-50mv/-50mv undervoltage)

The 2696v3 is better, higher default TDP, lower stock vcore, much easier to reach max all core turbo.
And also the 2696v3 is cooler, but the 2698v3 has higher Tjmax.

Hello.
Thank you for this entry and the file with the modified bios for the Dell 5810.
Have you tested the E5-2697V3? I wonder how it looks in relation to the E5-2696V3 or E5-2698V3 for PC gaming.
Best regards.

2697v3 is a few % better because it has a bigger tdp limit per core and can keep up the max turbo easier. But most of the games not using 10+ cores.

You can overclock suitable v3 processors on a t5810 (and similar Dell computers) by using the ThrottleStop software (see the Downloads section from the homepage). The process is a little peculiar because you first need to go through a sleep -> wake-up cycle before the cores can be overclocked:
  1. Make your machine go to sleep (from the Windows -> Power menu)
  2. Wake it up again (by pushing the on/off button on your machine)
  3. Start ThrottleStop
I forgot the exact settings needed within ThrottleStop to overclock your cores but at a minimum you want the 'Set Multiplier' field enabled on the main screen and show something in the range of 44 T, depending on what your CPU will tolerate. Some additional tweaking in the FIVR panel may be required as well.

(The reason behind the whole sleep -> wake-up deal is roughly this: from cold boot, Dell's firmware disables the C-states required for overclocking; however, when waking up from sleep, these states get enabled. Thanks, Dell.)

The Throttlestop method requires one of the unlocked Xeons. These are only some the single CPU 1xxx versions. If you go with the modded BIOS version then the multiple CPU 2xxx versions can be done. But it's much more complex to do that.
This forum goes into which Xeons are unlocked, and towards the end get's into the Dell BIOS modding techniques.
You can find some info. in this thread also. The same user switches back and forth between forums about this subject.
I don't think very many people have modded the Dell BIOS successfully.

Hi, thanks for the info and instructions.
I successfully overclocked my 1650 v3 to 4.4ghz on all cores.
the single core performance is about 5%-7% faster than my stock 1650v4 and multi core performance improved by 15% in some work loads.. (in silver bench I saw a 13-15% uplift but Geeck bench showed a negligible 3% difference) over my 1650v4.
For 10$ this is a decent upgrade, and I've almost completely alleviated the cpu bottleneck in most of the games I play (to further alleviate it I will have to go for a 1680v3).
As for the sleep cycle method to unlock, mine doesn't always set the overclock after one sleep cycle (and opening throttlestop), sometimes I have to put the pc to sleep once then open throttle stop then sleep cycle the PC one more to time to apply the overclock.

For the settings I used in TS I set multipliers to 44 and turned on power cut to make the CPU turbo boost indefinitely with NO power limit throttling (I've read on a reddit post that this setting tricks the cpu into thinking it's not drawing a lot of power there for doesn't need to power limit throttle and turbo boosts indefinitely, this is only what I've read so far and it's on reddit so it might not be entirely correct). I know using the setting is "unsafe" however the temps never exceed 83c in a hot room with normal fan speed and with max fan speed in a hot room it never exceeds 71c.

The Throttlestop method requires one of the unlocked Xeons. These are only some the single CPU 1xxx versions. If you go with the modded BIOS version then the multiple CPU 2xxx versions can be done. But it's much more complex to do that.

I plan on buying a 1680v3 and overclocking that for a nice improvement to multicore performance (strikes a great balance between a single core and multi core performance uplift for price they're going for right now at 30-40 USD). According to the Geeck bench data I saw on the 1680v3, overclocked users reached a single core score of 1490+ (my 1650v3 only reached 1336 and the 1650v4 was even lower at 1250).
Here's a link to the search results if any of you are interested (I actually saw one hit 1569 in single core which is close if not equal to a stock ryzen 5 3600 THE ultra budget baller gaming CPU)

Interesting, I didn't know C states are required for an OC. That contradicts the instruction I saw on a post to turn it off in the bios (which I did, and it works), so the sleep cycle method can work. Now I'm a little confused not sure what I'm missing here. Are you telling me even if it was enabled in bios it would be turned off because of dells firmware?

Sorry for the consecutive reply (if that's an issue here I'm not used to chatting in actual threads like this so apologies in advance if necessary).

Thanks, I was successfully able to download the file. I can't wait to try this and see if I can get a performance uplift with rebar enabled on a RX Vega 56 if not that still means ill have the feature available once I get my rx 6600 xt in the future:)

I tried the modded bios but sadly when I boot up all I get is the dell logo and the rade config screen and then a blank screen. Might this be because my gpu doesnt support rebar? (rx vega 56/vega 64 bios)

Unfortunately, I can't get to the bios screen to do so. I still just get a blank screen.
Also, something worst just happened after I reflash my old bios, now the pc doesn't even wake momentarily when I plug in the psu and now it doesn't turn on when I press the power button (the PSU is fine I checked it with the small button above the power cable connector). I'm not sure what I did wrong here but unfortunately this means my system might be bricked? Good thing I'm still within the return window for my machine

Try cmos clear.
I tried this before but I guess I didnt leave it out long enough. Thanks this seems to have done the job it now wakes up when I plug it in.

Update: I tried the modded bios again and did cmos reset PROPERLY this time and still no dice sadly.

I boot the machine, I hit f12 (it says preparing to enter boot selection)I see the raid config screen, then I get the blank display once again.

Yea I guess ill have to modify my current bios instead. Also I tried using Miyconst Modded bios and was successful with a boot but for some reason this broke the sleep function.
When I put the pc to sleep it turns off as it should but when I wake it I get no display output at all and now I have to force restart.
I guess I wont be trying out a modded bios for the time being.

Btw im using A34 bios

I don't know what cause this bug.
I think I know why this mod doesnt work.
Its because ReBAR is for nvidia/intel gpus while on AMD I need SAM (smart access memory). In practice ReBAR and sam are the same thing but rebar simply isnt compatible with amd. Also I know this is more than likely a gpu related issue since I get the same blank screen when using a corrupted Video bios.
Anyways ill see what I have to do for a bios mod once I get a rx 6600 xt. As of now I wont be attempting to use sam on a rx vega 56 (reports say there is little to no difference and sometimes worst performance)

Hello everyone, I would like to use my T5800 with an e5-2673 v4 as a Proxmox server.
I'm still looking for a graphics card that consumes very, very little power.
I now have a 4550 HD in it.
What would be a card that runs from experience?

It doesn't actually have to be able to do anything or process anything in my network.

A GT710 or GT730 would meet your needs unless you need some performance from your GPU. Then I suggest a Quadro K620 or P620. Both provide reasonable performance and no extra power.
