Tbh this is the least appealing FF I've seen so far... it looks dull... combat feels DmCish, I had some sort of Game of Thrones vibe from the intro... (that's bad in my books, it is FF damn it... ) Japanese lately fail to understand not to dig into foreign culture and try to mimic it(Forspoken ptsd)... we have enough that crap... do your original stuff... it is like why Witcher is loved, because it is made by same people having Slavic culture and lore, thus they know it well and do not get lost in translation.

The problem is that they're trying to please the newer gamer generation, not us old fans. :/

How? It feels really jarring for me, maybe because the VRR range for the LG G3 is 40 to 120 Hz and since it falls out of that, it feels really really stuttery

I don't even know the Freesync range of my monitor, but I didn't see any problems myself

I was about to say, the issue is likely because VRR is enabled AND falling below the min threshhold. Those not using it, or those with a min lower than that probably wont notice anything.

Looks like mine is also from 40Hz to 144Hz (OC, 120Hz is the official) but I didn't see any tearing though.

To me it's the sudden drop from 100fps that is jarring and that the cutscenes aren't properly frame paced.

oh forgot to mention my biggest annoyance with it no support for UW..... Which shouldn't be a thing in 2024. Looks fantastic on an oled though.

totally agree. It's so bad too, because the in-game settings lists 3440x1440 (which is correct for my monitor) but then renders black bars on the sides. Complete failure.

I'd say that don't judge the port just from the demo. I'll buy it anyway and I hope that sooner or later those issues mentioned here are fixed.

The same mod the allows ultrawide unlocks the fps during cutscenes.

My guess is yes and that we will be saved by modders like with every meh console port.

The mod takes like 10 seconds to install so it's a non issue at least with the steam version.

On my 3080ti system it probably wouldn't matter as much but the 4090 gets around 120-180fps at 1440uw with DLAA so the drop to 30fps is really obvious also I'm pretty sensitive to improper framepacing and it's not very consistent on top of that due to the near instantaneous response times of oled it makes the transition even more obvious.

I had 45+ fps with 4K Ultra DLSS, didn't feel unplayable to be honest.

Not gonna say what's playable or not only meant that going from say 50-70fps down to 30 wouldn't be as noticeable as 120+ to 30.

Ah, good point there. Though I'll probably drop the settings a little when I get the full game to have continuous 60+

Also just so you know you can use the unlocker mod that allows Ultrawide and still use 16x9.

Thanks, I assume that will be out for the main game shortly after release. I wonder why it does not have them. Older games used to have some issues with unlocked frame rates, but for a new game I am not sure why it would be a problem.

It's just the cutscenes it has no effect other than making the the cutscenes look much smoother. Really stupid should be an option in the menu. That being said the cutscenes are about twice as demanding as in game especially character close ups.

30 frame rates in 2024 is just awful. I could see 60 frame rates, but going from 80-100 (checking some gameplay/benchmarks with similar PC specs) down to 30 must look bad. The graphics don't look good, which is fine, but performance also seems quite low. Seemingly an RTX 4070 at 1440 gets 60 frame rates, and needs DLSS + Frame Generation for 100+. I suppose that is normal for a Square port though.
