Bro, my memory boots at 30 C. This stuff just runs hot in general. These 32 GB sticks are just hot mothers.
Still on DDR4 myself

You’re making me cry. Do you want to make me cry?
But I game in 4k. Is 48gb future proof?
I have 2x24gb sticks of 8000 but couldn’t get it stable. From Microcenter.
563882G.SKILL 48G 2X D5 8000 C40 TRGB B
Is that A die? Is there a better ram I should get?
Do you think I can actually stabilize it?
@ShrimpBrime said to put it into gear 4.
Would this be an overall better performing option for 4k gaming than my 6600 with the tight timings?

Well even their 8000 kits do not have the PMIC thermal pad :(
That kit is M-die, less timings movement, more speed movement (in general) without a ton of added volts.
No, on a 2DCP layout, or a 4DIMM motherboard, many people run into issues at the 7200 region with lower quality IMCs.

So don’t go for 8000 then huh?
Ok.
Ugh…
At this point I’m thinking I just need to try to cool this better and not change the ram..
2x24 7000 vs 2x32 6600 and tight timings if I can stabilize temps..
Meh. IDK..

Ok.
If you own the kit, dial it back to like 7000MT/s and see what shakes.

So if they don’t use pads, it would be easy to separate the shroud from the PMIC right?
Maybe I could just install my own and put a fan on it. That should theoretically improve temperatures right?

Would this work well?

Best way to cool and run them, naked. Just like a de-lidded naked die core. Direct cooling works really well.

Would that get rid of my RGB lighting?
and is it difficult to remove? Should I heat it first or is there nothing sticking it together because there’s no thermal pad?

I think I’m going to remove the shroud and Direct cool them with a fan.
I hope that fan I bought on Amazon will still fit without the shroud on them lol

No, it looks like the LEDs are soldered to the ram pcb. So the lighting will probably be brighter actually.

But who stares at the PC case guts in the middle of battle playing War Thunder anyways? I certainly do not. Hell don't even see the RGB on the keyboard while focusing on making a kill in game.... just sayin'...

I have gone through way more trouble than 99.9% of the world in regards to setting up my lighting.
My PC currently looks like an active fireplace in a way that not many, if any computers can match lol.
It’s an effect that my wife and I both appreciate just in its idle state.

I do this kind of stuff for more than just getting a kill in a game, I do it for personal satisfaction, meticulous attention to detail, and for the enjoyment of the journey.

At the end of the day, it’s about personal preference.

The PMIC isnt where damage typically happens. Thermal pads release with ease. It is the thermal tape on the ICs that sticks like glue and can pull the chips off the PCB if not heated up well enough before the attempt to remove.

As Shrimp said, LEDs are always soldered to the PCB, the white bit at the top helps to blend the colors as they shift and eliminate hotspots. Cant argue the nekid aspect, Ive taken my Patriot X5 down to nothing, and temps were drastically better than with them on, both with a serious fan pointing at them.

Do those Strimmer lights get warm? Seems awefully close to the RAM?!?!?

With 18 case fan spinning, not much in there gets warm. Lol

I guess I will heat it with my heating gun, remove the shroud and try to run naked.

I get that, but cases and builds develop hotspots where the case flow isnt great, and heat can pool. I only ask to try to help.

In Anta777 extreme on 2x32gb sticks overclocked lol. Please don’t get me wrong. I’m sure airflow can be improved and I will work on that. But this stuff runs hot naturally. It’s like 40c always and in games it gets over 50c.
Thats just normal for this stuff.

The point is 50c or less at load anta777 extreme.

Therfore why the suggestion to put a fan on your memory. Which is a good thing because this will also help cool the cpu package and vrm package area.

To cool something you blow air onto the object, not across it. Kinda like when you blow on the spoonful of hot soup. You don't blow around the soup, but directly onto it. (For example) :)

I believe what you’re asking is a physical impossibility with this ram. I think it’s incredibly unrealistic for ram this dense to be at those temperatures running Anta777 extreme but I guess I’ll find out.

if you think I made this topic about cooling my ram, and then I intend to point a fan not directly at it, I really don’t know what to say about that. Lol.
I mean, obviously I’m going to cool the ram directly. I’m going to take off the shroud and point a fan right at it and see what happens. Maybe I’ll pee on it, anything at this point. Lol

It's about prolonged life and stability. Do what you need to do.

Two pages in we've established your aesthetic is to be respected in any change.

Try the cooler for now and see if Q2/Q3 of next year a new die arrives on the block. It isn't absurd to suspect 64GB kits will show up in larger numbers.

I have gone through way more trouble than 99.9% of the world in regards to setting up my lighting.
My PC currently looks like an active fireplace in a way that not many, if any computers can match lol.
It’s an effect that my wife and I both appreciate just in its idle state.
At least it doesn't look like this.

My eyes hurt everytime someone presses the power button - And that someone is the wife.
She LOVES it though so...... I just put on my shades (Welding goggles?) and move along.

You take pride in what you do and nothing wrong with that at all.

I am the same way and when she said she wanted it like this, I had to make it so.
Only thing left to RGB in the whole damn thing is the HDD/SDD itself.

It's even got a set of Royals I had bought for myself and was actually using at the time.
But then she spotted them.....

Mine.jpg

And that was it - In fact that's what started the whole thing in the first place.
I dubbed it "R.G. Barfo" and called it a day before I went frickin blind.

I still want my Royals dammit but as long as she's happy, I can wait until the next upgrade cycle to to get them back.

As for RAM issues:
Shrimpy is part of the same team I'm on and he's messed around with RAM like I have, he'll tell you the straight and skinny about it, no bull about it either.
If he says do what you have to, that's what I'd do.
Stability is the thing and for longevity, he's on point with that too.

TBH RAM coolers are a dime a dozen, easily found and I've got a few scattered around doing nothing myself..... Some of the better ones at that too.
However it's better to have cool RAM than hot RAM anyday.

I have 2 now. The mounting solution is the best I've seen so far. I would have liked to be able to adjust the height. I suppose one could use different height standoffs or cut and retap for the best fit height to the ram modules.
My very thought. I like the mounts for these Jonsbo ones way better than the older style clip-on ones.

Lol I love that story and you’re surely correct. They are a dime a dozen likely.
But phase one complete. Shroud removed with a heat gun. Not so hard “just be careful” was the motto. :pimp:

My very thought. I like the mounts for these Jonsbo ones way better than the older style clip-on ones.
The only reason I’m considering the clip on one is because it moves like 50% more air. 9.1 CFM vs 13.5 CFM.
I like the other mounting style as well, but I’m sure I can make the clip on style work pretty effectively or slightly modify it if need be to make it secure.

That is true enough. They look like 50x50x20mm fans. Could get all kinds of fans for the Jonsbo (dynatron has 5800 rpm ones :D). That's probably what I would do. Your call. I think the Jonsbo (or similar) is more aesthetically pleasing, and i like the mount. The clip-ons work. I've certainly used them plenty times. No shame in it.

Gotta admit though, it looks pretty cool next to that AIO

P.S. no idea how to make that .webp image show up like a normal picture.

So yeah, overclocking my ram and it is running pretty damn hot in Anta777. lol. It’s stable in most tests but once it hits that 75C, it starts shooting errors.
Obviously, I should not be letting my ram hit 75C. Lol.
JEDEC allows up to 85c, but that is 1.1v and loose ass timings :)
