Unfortunately for you this is just a rhetorical trick and prejudice, you haven't achieved anything, and the only logical response to this is to simply point that fact out, that its a trick and the work of someone who has no training in informal reasoning. Nada.
A whole lot of words with zero point. You would make a great politician.
Your deliberately ignoring that with this new stuff comes encroachments. what control panel offers is fully sufficient for many peoples needs,
encroachments? what? The old control panel is only sufficient for a person who has not experienced anything better. Like i said earlier. In a few years all this "outrage" will be forgotten and no one will miss NVCP just like no one misses ATI's CCC.
you get to a point where modifying the app doesn't add any core features and just adds bloat and other problems.
So you think it's better to have GFE and NVCP existing separately? Because that is not bloat at all?
What problems are you referring to in regards to this new app? So far the only valid concerns is see are features not yet ported over and the inability to install only some parts of the driver. This is why NVCleanstall was created because the current driver also does not give much modularity.
Remember Corsair software for their keyboards? they were so lite and powerful and now the new stuff is bloated toxic garbage, its the law of enshitification. So your argument here is invalid, as its based on the uncritical (shady on your behalf) presumption that the product needs to be changed, based on rhetoric alone instead of actual reasons and facts.
We're not talking about change for the sake of change like a website changing it's design every few years. We're talking about unifying all separate apps into a single one. This is not just a cosmetic change.
Here again shows your complete lack of intellect, no credentials right? nada. My words here are not insults, they are facts or observations. Here you just repeated the same uncritical presumption, in addition to the ad hominem fallacy (a fallacy is an objective mistake-like getting math wrong) your insult is also a loaded language type fallacy, you have made an unwarranted assumption that is needed for your argument to work in the first place, but that assumption in addition to being prejudice is circular, it hasn't been verified because by its structure it cannot be. Thats what rhetoric merchants do, no skill, nada.
I was referring to lex or whatever his name is. Are you his alt account or why are you so affected by my words?
Control Panel works great for me and I have no desire to replace it.
Great. Then keep using it. Is Jensen standing behind you preventing you from using it?
If Nvidia wont to do some improving why don't they just start with getting the costs down, upping the warranty, Sorry team green I cannot afford a 4000dollar gpu. Man i swear there is so little incentive to get into PC gaming nowadays.:toast:
That's offtopic. We are talking about the app here. Not warranty or prices.

Irony!

Great. Then keep using it. Is Jensen standing behind you preventing you from using it?
Pedantic nonsense. You don't get that this "App" might be a precursor to NVidia removing the control panel. Everyone objecting understands this CONTEXT, something you seem to be missing. So not a "zero point". And we're the morons?

Maybe most people like that. Have you considered it?
They don't. Just ask around.
I assume this isn't in NVIDIA's software, because AIBs have a range of components to choose from for overclocking and have their own firmware installed on their cards, hence why AIBs have 5x models for the same GPU chip, ex. Gigabyte having a RTX 4070 Aorus, Gaming, Aero, and Eagle. I'd also guess NVIDIA doesn't include OCing software because of warranties. And nor do all AIBs use the same fans.
So... AIBs all have their own software to manage the fans, OCing, and RGB. While at the same time sometimes the software also is used for their mobos, AIOs, PSUs, etc.
I get it, every model is different but Afterburner can change a lot on whatever card it wants. Doesn't have to be an MSI card. Now those brand specific tools might be able to control MORE things with better granularity in certain departments but Afterburner can take care of the basics on almost anything, NVCP could do it too.

You can call me a weirdo, that perfectly fine, being a rational man I cant get offended by it, doing so wouldn't make any logical sense. It could be updated to support dark mode, dpi scaling, and not have the threadlocked lag that comes with changing options in the 3d settings section and then left as is.

People dont like GFE because of the sign in requirement. Now that this goes away and GFE features are integrated into the Nvidia App there's much less reason to hate it. People dont hate GFE because it has bad or lackluster features.
The only thing GFE brought that anyone actually liked was ShadowPlay.
GFE isn't for the average TPU member. It's for people that want to treat the machine like a console and just turn on and play.

I see it as more bloat really. Just using discord will make me drop some frames on the cpu side, I don't need GFE trying to drop a few more for me in the background.

If it hurts performance it should be rightly condemned. If not then adding the missing features and improving the layout are sufficient in my opinion.

Current driver also runs continuously. How often do you benchmark that a few background processes meaningfully affect you scores?
Those that properly run benchmarks kill all background processes anyway.
Drivers and Chrome-based stupid software are two different things. By installing Adrenaline, we can choose whether we need Driver+Adrenaline or not. With the current NVCP+Experience, we also have a choice.

Yes, for benchmarking, most processes are killed, but I'd rather not install software that I won't use and will only drain resources.

So I may have moaned about this before, but as v1.0 is out it bares repeating. I don't at this time recommend that ANYONE install the nVidia App, for the following core reasons -
  • TPU keep referring to the NvApp being superior to GeforceExperience, but I like a lot of people refused to install that steaming pile of a program. a) because it required a login and b) because it will not function unless you gave it unfettered internet access.
  • Data sharing opt-out and no sharing of under 13's data - ONLY if you sign in, making it a shady catch22.
  • There is still no GDPR prevision in the nVidia privacy policy and you still cannot Opt-Out of required data in the settings section..
  • Almost ALL of the app functions will NOT work if the app is denied OUTGOING access to the internet. This is not the case for the nVidia Control panel.
  • Scanning HDD without consent - the app SHOULD be asking me where, period.
  • Oh and installing the latest version of NvApp breaks/corrupts the Nv ControlPanel, despite me reporting this precise issue with the very 1st beta of the NvApp - which nvidia clearly ignored.
This should be a HARD PASS, as its yet another "will only work with an internet" connection based application/program. No offence to w1zzard as I appreciate the work he does, but I would down-vote this news article if I could.

"nVidia responded that "Control Panel will continue to be a separate app as we continue to port features" but also that the App will "eventually" replace it."
  • And on that day end users will simply find a way to use the old control panel, or just refuse to have the NvApp installed at all, as they currently do with Gfe atm curtisy of NvCleanInstall.

My default position upon seeing any browser-as-an-app programs is hatred, but to be honest since I'd only spend a minute a year in any driver config menu, it doesn't really matter what terrible stuff it's built out of as long as it does the things I need it to do, does not need internet access, and does not consume resources when closed. I think others are assuming none of this will be true and well, when you've seen enough of a pattern you too can jump straight to the conclusion.

If I recall correctly, GFE also didn't need a sign in originally. The requirement came in v3.0. So, no reason to trust that a lack of sign-in today will remain tomorrow.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I'm not seeing GPU scaling options.
Integer scaling/aspect-ratio scaling is just about the only thing I ever used the Nvidia control panel for and it's simply missing in the app. Don't get me wrong, the app is definitely an improvement in some areas, but the stupidity of launching an incomplete app that's missing features means that people still need to run the old control panel, which negates the entire raison-d'etre for this app in the first place! An incomplete app is as dumb as the schizophrenic Windows 8 Modern UI transition that's still woefully incomplete in 2024, despite Microsoft having 12 full years now to migrate all of the classic control panel features across to the Settings app. Nvidia shouldn't be copying Microsoft, because Microsoft are the anti-example of exactly how to f*ck it up in the most irritating way imagineable!

Also, not that I often needed to change from the "correct" settings, but I don't see any advanced display options like colour depth, format (RGB 4:4:4 or lesser YCbCr formats), or where you can set the SDR contrast range from limited to full if your display is dumb enough to ask for 16-235, which I see so often with TVs and some cheaper monitors. Who wants grey blacks and dull whites? If you need to adjust these things, then they are absolutely not optional and the wrong settings result in absolutely dogshit-tier image quality.

Thats interesting considering where their NVENC focus has been.

Some people have been doing analysis of NVENC on why it underperforms for records, but people generally praise it for streaming, it looks like it is heavily optimised for CBR (which is generally what you would use for streaming or video sites but not recording for personal use), some feedback has now been sent back to Nvidia with the hope they improve NVENC for variable bit rates, especially on AV1.

Also I have verified the above behaviour if you try to use the Nvidia app without internet access, and on my system, the extra services still appear on the system as well. (Tested with RTX 3080 on Windows 11 on my 9900k hardware). I am not convinced the breakage without internet is by design though but rather assumptions have been made by the developers and lack of proper QA has led to the situation.

The overlay causes high CPU usage for me. It never used to do that with GF Experience. What a bad new app. It constantly records, even if its not. I turned it off, and it still takes 30% of my SSD non stop. As if i record. Even Nvidia doesnt know how to fix it, i did ask them. Wooho.

It's been in beta for months, if that's what you were after.
No, I was after a better client. Also, the usual increased price over same or worse performance than what AMD is offering, both hardware and software, I see no incentive to stay with Nvidia and their products.

I am not fond about OC my GPU, but i am very much loving MSI AB for monitoring realtime about my cpu, ram, gpu with their genius OSD (gpu core clock, memory gpu clock, VRAM usage, RAM usage, cpu core clock, etc) in allmost all my pc games and my desktop, also can capture lot of ScreenShot too, so can this new NVIDIA app will replaced all MSI AB features like that ?
