if i could reproduce it more consistently it would be easier

it is almost a 1/100 chance of it happening , that is why it makes it so hard

Chiming in, but I once had this happen and it was an old SSD failing to initialize.

Sometimes it can be something as silly as a USB controller on a RGB/Fan controller going bad.

i´ve removed the unecessary devices and i´m using right now , let´s see over time if it gets stuck

i saw on some other forums as well , pretty rare but there is a chance that usb devices can cause the vga light as well
if i could reproduce it more consistently it would be easier

Yes. Debug lights are kinda silly and just point to the last major thing to initialize. Helps to point issues, but after VGA initialization your drives and misc peripherals will initialize and it could hang there. Usually they go VGA -> Boot (loaded devices, load and start UEFI) so anything in between can get stuck

Diagram of the usual POST order (this is old but for Reasons its similar even in modern devices)

hmm i think we are getting there

since i´ve already swapped psu , mobo and gpu , the issue clearly lies in a peripheral

it is not the ssd as well as i´ve replaced it too

tbh had this theory before , strongly suspected there was something wrong with the first GPU i got anyways ( behavior persisted on the new hardware )

I have even heard of bad keyboards preventing POSTs. It really is going to be a wild chase but its all just a process of elimination. IMO usually you start with all peripherals, but I can see how the GPU light can throw someone off

Hmm yes

Well , i always had p2 headsets ( recently got this corsair one , hs65 surround ) and this new one is usb

do you think the hub in the case could be broken and causes it ? too bad all the usb ports work

the usb devices are : bt dongle (orico) , redragon keyboard dragonborn brown , corsair hs65 surround and a logitech g305

almost sure it is not the actual hardware but frustrating to find the culprit usb

on a side note , recently flashed the bios again and the bios showed 3 mices , 2 keyboard and one usb hub

not sure if relevant but the count is clearly wrong

First it was once a month.
Then it was one in 50.
Now it is 1 in 100.

I think this has turned into an unhealthy obsession.

IMO you should either (1) take it to a shop or (2) forget about it - at least until it happens again then check event logs.

You have checked your wall outlets with a good AC Outlet Tester to ensure the wall outlet is properly wired and grounded to Earth ground, right?

And you are on a good UPS with AVR, right?

yes , the outlet is all good and properly

i don´t know if i can check any event since it barely gets to the OS

almost sure a shop won´t be able to diagnose , the issue lies in something external connected to the PC ( mostly)

gathering the information it makes sense to stop at the vga light

since already replaced psu , mobo and gpu , the issue is still present due to a device that i´m still using and wasn´t replaced

also , is there a good brand of hdmi / dp cable ? if i can´t find one directly at 90 degrees , i would need to find a 90 adapter

i´ve been using this adapter on the monitor for a long time , wondering if it can also trigger the vga light ( despite cables working ok )

I definitely agree that changing so many pieces for something that happens so rarely might be too much.

Anyway, I stand by my thought that it is a peripheral (including stuff like RGB controllers and such) as B2 (External Device Initialization Issue) on ASUS motherboards (only used for reference, POST is the same on almost all AMI motherboards) happens after VGA initialization and before Ready to Boot Event. The only other option would be a flaky CPU PCIe line and thats way rarer than a random peripheral failing.

I hate boot lights why doesn't everyone add a status code display they aren't even expensive ):

i´ve upgrade some parts so it wasn´t a complete loss ( like better ssd , psu , mobo , gpu etc )

but still annoying to face it

well i´m using the necessary , only monitor , mouse , keyboard and headset ( unplugged tv and bt dongle )

let´s see maybe if it resolves the issue over time

but makes sense to crash at the vga light i guess , it crashes transitioning to the boot process and even vga light being approved , it remains on and doesn´t pass to the boot one

i´m using the dp cable supplied with the monitor , don´t know if they are worse in quality in general

it is not the ssd as well as i´ve replaced it too

Including swapping the cable? assuming it uses a SATA cable.

hey guys , on a side note , the pc would crash / lose signal to gpu if rams or cpu pci-e lanes were the problem right ? it is very weird , when the pc is in use it works 100%

thanks

just tested right now , unfortunately it is not the bluetooth dongle that causes it

removed my tv and only booted throught the monitor and still happened right now

i´m at a loss right now , no idea what is causing it

my boot configuration was : display port into the monitor , logitech mouse , redragon keyboard and the corsair headset

What should i try next ? thanks

Is it too extreme to use 3 usb devices on my mobo ? mouse and keyboard on a usb 2.0 port and headset on a 3.0 port

i also have a speaker , would it help to diagnose the cause through the beeps ? would it still point to vga light beeps ? ( always stops at the vga light )

hey guys i´m reporting back to what is happening

removed the bt dongle , hdmi cable from tv ( using only dp to monitor ) and the usb 3.0 hub and still no sucess , still stuck at vga light from time to time

is it possible to my working mouse , working keyboard and working headset cause the vga ?

i know there won´t be a concrete answer but i think i´m running out of options already

would fast boot help if there is a defective usb device somehow ?

i just can´t get over it how the system performs 100% when it boots ( most of the time )

also , would bad ram , cpu misleading accuse vga light ?

i´m sorry being a bit repetitive , i don´t have much spare time due to work etc so i can´t troubleshoot to a further extend ( tried some easy steps )

thanks

Since you don't have the time due to work, take it to a shop.

Probably a bunk gpu.

it is hard to believe i got 2 busted gpus in a row

i just can´t get over why this is still happening , it just doesn´t make sense at all

i would expect crashes or instability when the pc boots but no
