I've sunk around 35 hours into the game. I've hit some bugs, one is kind of game breaking but it doesn't stop you from progressing the main story so hopefully GSC gets it fixed in an up and coming patch.

I run the game native (no upscaling or frame generation crap) at 1440p, all settings are at Epic, but I turn motion blur down to 0%. I tend to pull an average of 55fps with my computer at these settings.

I do notice pop-ins with trees and vegetation as I'm running through the environment, it's not horrible, but it is noticeable. This doesn't really bother me. What does bother me is that even with draw distance maxed and all settings maxed, off in the very far distance it always looks like I'm looking at things through a chain-link fence. I can see this all the time outside, but it doesn't capture as well in a still image, but I have a couple of examples. One image also shows a floating shadow for my character, this is not uncommon.
Stalker2 - chain link fence background.jpg Stalker2 - floating shadow and chain-link fence background.jpg
First image as you look towards the back you'll see all the jaggies from trees off in the distance, looks like a chain-link fence. The second image also shows the same thing, but the main issue in that one is the floating shadow of my character. I see this come up a lot, too.

I've come across multiple floating heads because the body hasn't loaded in yet.
Stalker2 - floating head.jpg

I also have come across bodies that float above beds like they've been possessed by a demon! And even NPCs sitting on absolutely nothing, but they think they're on some kind of object like a stool.
Stalker2 - floating body.jpg Stalker2 - NPC sitting on invisible stool.jpg

A graphical bug with lights plagued me inside the SIRCAA facility (it only has happened here, in this building that I've experienced it). In the first picture you can see the lights along the right side. If I turn to face them, then this is what I see in the second picture.
Stalker2 - SIRCAA light graphic 1.jpg Stalker2 - SIRCAA light graphic 2.jpg
Perhaps the issue lies in the fact I'm using a driver from April (552.22). I'm too lazy to update the driver to see if this problem goes away.

I've seen minor bugs such as rain appearing on windows that are covered or inside of a building.
Stalker2 - rain on windows behind cover.jpg

I've seen spawning issues with NPCs that are supposed to be passing through the area. In this picture you can see the three NPCs standing on the concrete slab, they're just walking back and forth on that slab and won't get off of it.
Stalker2 - group of wandering NPCs stuck.jpg

This one isn't a bug, but I thought it was humorous because even one of the NPCs making chitchat with you mentions how much he thinks item repair costs suck.
Stalker2 - NPC even tells you repair costs suck.jpg

I've ran into a handful of mission bugs, mostly minor and one pretty major, but not enough to be game breaking. I think most of the time the atmosphere is kind of intense, landing the game between SoC and CoP. Mutants are pretty predictable, for the most part you just back peddle and shoot them or side step to mostly avoid their attacks. They get kind of boring.

I dislike when bad guys spawn behind you. It's always behind you. As I walk through some random building area, found nothing aside from some scattered items and as I'm leaving bandits or some "I'm mad at you" faction spawns behind you in the area and start to shoot you. On the other hand, when those bad guys spawn behind you there tends to be another group of NPCs that spawn that like you and they start to also attack the bad guys. It never fails, group from both sides always spawn together.

I'm enjoying the game. Spent most of my time off work this Thanksgiving playing, but I'm going to wait for a few more patches to come out before I finish things up. If I had to score the game (out of 10) I'd say a solid 6 right now. I'm hoping some good patching/bug squashing patches can help improve on things and make it more like an 8 or so, right up there with how I scored the other STALKER games.

Tried another run. Game keeps crashing more and more now.
Yeah I have been playing pretty solid until yesterday. I couldn't play more than 10 minutes before it crashed. I stopped playing after the 4th crash. I'll wait a little be more to let the patches fix a few more things. The game is way underwhelming for me. It's not bad, but it's not great either or at least for me it's not.

I've changed my stance on this game. Perhaps its actually encouraging to see that Stalker really hasn't changed at all over the last couple decades. Its still a bugfest, GSC is just staying true to their roots!

I have played it from day one with no crashes, then my game updates on Saturday and then I couldn't play it for longer than 10 minutes before it crashed. I stopped after the 4th crash. I'm going to blame game pass for pc.. lol I'd like to see how everyone is playing it? Game Pass for PC or Steam. Also, add if their game has crashed or not.

Game Pass for me. I'll eventually get a copy on GoG, need to make sure I have it to complete my STALKER collection.

I haven't played the game for the past few days, waiting on more patching before I finish it, but I did play after the patches were applied. Only crashes I recall having were:
1) A saved game (quick save) that wouldn't load - must have gotten corrupted.
2) One crash to desktop when I took a side mission in Cordon - I don't know if it was the mission (find a gun) or something else, but it crashed about 3 seconds after I took the mission and stopped talking to Sidorovich.

That's from roughly 35-36 hours of game play. I don't recall if the second crash I had was before or after the patches. I played probably 10-12 hours of game after the patches.

It's an amazing test of memory timings -- at stock timings no crashes... at any OC it will crash within 20 minutes... my ram stress software takes 1 hour to find same error lol.

I have over 50 hours in without a single crash. Game performance is great too. I'm always hovering around 120 fps.

After 6 hours gameplay with my new 7900XT card. Non any crash and i use a lot of mods, disabled the shader compliation, tweaked the ini files etc.

Gunplay is good, but to much jamming. And the guns have unrealistic stats (starting pistol is OP) but very realistic and good animations. (but why are the buckshots blue?)
Enemy spawning is very bad, and the AI also stupid but the mutant animals can hide if they cant reach me.
Graphics is not that bad and i got fixed 60 fps az 1080p native (60hz, the 7900xt is at low usage 100-120w TDP), epic/high/medium mixed settings and tweaked ini files.
The game is not very hard, just ramboing not work here. To much aid, bandage, food etc in crates. There is not much ammunition. (stalker difficulty)
Walking is too much. There are a few bugs but most of them are funny. The game made an autosave seconds before i died, friendly npc smoking when eaten by a dog....etc
139440_jl3rjprikjmy3kob_messenger_creation_c0797866-0f82-42fd-a8e5-250d47b.jpg

So i think they should throw out the spawning system. Instead implement some fixed base spawning, wandering and npc schedule system.
Weapons need to be realistic for damage and penetration and also the engine can handle ballistics. No need to balance and any leveling/ranking system for the weapons and spawning, this is not a multiplayer game.
It is a good base game overall but it needs a lot of mods to make it fully enjoyable for me.

Your image, that is Squint. I had the same issue on my play through - dogs spawned outside and made their way in and he didn't give a crap about it. Just stood there as they mauled him and he died.

Later, on a side mission in the Garbage zone, he shows up and says he wants to talk. I talked to him and the only option he had for talking was the same thing you get from 99% of NPCs you talk to, "What's new around the zone?". After I asked him that, he said something generic and then he wouldn't talk to me anymore.

Guns do jam too easy. I get guns that are 100% and jam after a couple of rounds. There are a lot of medkits and bandages throughout the game, some graphical bugs, bugs with NPCs and so on. As you said it's a decent game, but certainly needs work.
