Intel Arc B580 Selling Like Hot Cakes, Weekly Restocks Planned

It's a tacitly known reality that Intel has not been having a great time lately. However, calling the company's recently announced Arc B580 gaming graphics card a smash hit would be a wild understatement. The company's previous major GPU launch, the Arc Alchemist, was riddled with mediocre reviews and received a lukewarm reception. The Arc B580, on the other hand, has received overwhelmingly positive reviews across the board, with many even hailing the GPU as a saving grace for the borderline deserted budget-class segment.

Keeping that in mind, it is no surprise that Intel's Arc B580 is getting sold out nearly everywhere, with the company barely managing to keep enough inventory. As revealed to popular YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips, Intel plans on having weekly restocks of its Arc B580 gaming GPU. We sure do look forward to that, considering that no one really likes a GPU, no matter how great, that can't be bought. The Arc B580 rocks a higher 12 GB of VRAM, a more affordable pricing, as well as arguably better performance than its primary competitors, the RTX 4060 and the RX 7600. Of course, with Blackwell and RDNA 4 around the corner, it sure does appear that the arena of the ultimate budget GPU is about to get heated once again.

That's excellent news.

With AMD & Nvidia fleecing their customers for past few years. If their B770 + B780 is anything good I might take Intel for my next GPU.

Their processors in the other hand still overpriced junk.

AMD GPU division needs to learn from this Intel launch in all aspects. It was such a refreshing launch not overpromising anything and delivering on the promise at a reasonable price.
AMD did this recently a lot of times and people were still not happy, marketing is irrelevant if the people expect X and then just get Y. That was the case with RX 7000, while RX 6000 was more or less generally liked. RX 5000 would've been liked if not for the driver fails.

Intel on the other hand can hardly disappoint, people have 0 expectations of Intel, (because they aren't good) and they have the "underdog" or "newcomer" bonus, I think it's the latter. Still this GPU is 2 years late and competes with 3 generations soon, it's still terrible. I don't do hype.

I think we're forgetting Intel is still battling the lowest end GPUs AMD and Nvidia have to offer, they're still far from being a real alternative.

As if the standards set on Intel are different ones than those for AMD. ;) It's funny how likeable suddenly Intel is, well it's called hype for a reason. And it's simply unrealistic to hype this relatively slow, inefficient GPU, certainly nobody who sees this product as what it is, will hype it.

I for one would like to see an epic battle of GPUs below $500 so much so that any attempt by any of these companies to release products above this price will fail miserably. It's hard to accept buying a GPU with less than 50% more performance at 2 to 4 times the price. CPU manufacturers learned this the hard way when they use to release $1000+ CPUs at just the next clock speed bin over a $500 CPU.

Except the B580 is a good GPU, more competition is a good thing at the low end as Nvidia has been ripping off consumers for several generations, and I doubt most buyers care it isn't competing with the latest card since it's still selling out even with the Nvidia 5000 series and AMD 8000 series launching next year.

The hype it's getting is well deserved, a 12GB card at $250 is a great deal, but the nvidia buyers crapping on this card are likely to buy nvidia anyway. Drivers have improved significantly, while drivers need work for some games, the B580 is beating the 4060 and 7600.
As for efficiency, did you even look at a review? Before anyone complains about multi-monitor or video playback, 10-15w isn't worth whining about, IMO.

Older cards have been available, from more partners, with lower prices. They were available until B580 released and some are still around.

Drivers improved substantially. What is the complaint?

I'm glad Intel is getting the budget GPU market started again with a good option that has plenty of VRAM.

Really?

The actual performance of Intel Arc B580 is between NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.

What hype are you talking about? B580 is faster than AMD and Nvidia cards at the same price point like 4060 or 7600 and close to a couple of the more expensive cards like 7600XT. In terms of efficiency it is on par with AMD's RDNA3 and occasionally with Nvidia's ADA. And this is from reviews, not Intel slides.

Sure there are concerns. Driver quality while improved considerably is still a question mark. New generations should be coming from both AMD and Nvidia soon. But here, today and in this holiday season basically every reviewer and youtuber seems to like the thing at this price point.

There are things to be said also about AMD and Nvidia leaving a gap in this entire segment for a couple generations now that Intel was able to target.

They are a real alternative though, if that is your price range.

Nothing exists in a vacuum, least of all GPU's. It's all about how much money one has to spend/is willing to spend and what is avaliable at that price. This is a decent little card, how decent depends on prices where you live. I don't see the issue.

Right now they are the underdog, who doesn't root for the underdog :D

I kinda hope they make AMD look bad later lol.

Mostly because it would be amusing.

I agree with everyone saying that this GPU is a welcome addition, and in fact a promising start for intel.

However... they need to seriously look at their distribution channels. It's one thing waiting for restock at MSRP, as in USA. The B580 will still be good value when newegg restocks in a couple of weeks, at the suggested 250 sticker price.

What we're getting in Europe, on the other hand, is another thing altogether. Lowest I've seen it go for is 370, and more stores are selling it even at RX 7700 XT prices. That is certainly... not a good proposition. Intel needs to sort themselves out with their AIBs.

Is it? It's largely inefficient and is trading blows with 2 gen old GPUs, disagree. You're speculating about long term success, don't pretend it's more than your opinion.
The hype it's getting is well deserved, a 12GB card at $250 is a great deal, but the nvidia buyers crapping on this card are likely to buy nvidia anyway. Drivers have improved significantly, while drivers need work for some games, the B580 is beating the 4060 and 7600.
No, hype is rarely or almost never deserved, that's why it's called hype. 250$ in US only, here it's wildly overpriced and competes with far better GPUs, it's a fail. And then you lose access to DLSS, a general fail, the drivers are also bad, let's not set different standards on Intel, if it were AMD all here would be shitting on it, because of the drivers. :) Let's be fair and do it with intel too then. The drivers are atrocious, that's why they did 50 updates last year, so bad were they. Hard pass, GPUs are to enjoy and not to deal with beta stuff. 12 GB ain't saving it either.
This is a decent little card, how decent depends on prices where you live. I don't see the issue.
It's decent if you close both your eyes and set different standards for Intel than on AMD. :) Drivers are terrible, let's use the same standards as with AMD back then. No DLSS? Omg, this was always also used against AMD - so it's a fail. No efficiency? Also bad. 3 big down sides. RIP.
What hype are you talking about? B580 is faster than AMD and Nvidia cards at the same price point like 4060 or 7600
No it's not, it's roughly comparable and way less efficient. It has more driver issues and no DLSS.

Drivers improved substantially. What is the complaint?
Improved substantially doesn't mean they are great (they are not). It's still beta stuff, it's still not on the same level as AMD or Nvidia drivers.

But both the 2080 Super and the 3060ti are faster than the 4060 and the 7600.
And the B580 is priced lower than both of its competitors (at least in the US).

No one is forgetting that. People are excited because the raw price is low and the price/performance ratio is competitive, perhaps even better than AMD in a few cases. These look like good 1440p cards.

Well, don't bother trying to buy one of those cards, cause it's my AI buyer-bot thingy that has been buying up all of them, everywhere, all at once, for the foreseeable future, so when I get the last of the bunch, perhaps I will post some up for sale here at cost + 7% (for shipping), since I absolutely abhor scalpers and refuse to help them in any way...hahahaha :D

Yes, sucks that they canceled the higher end SKUs. Clearly that was a bad move given the reception.
