That’s fine if you are just a gamer that can make do with their previous graphics card.
if you need a new machine because your previous one no longer works and you can’t get anything thats an other problem.

Second hand market, my friend! :D
AMD or Intel are alternatives, bnib cards have a warranty...

I'm not even surprised and I don't think it will only be limited in Germany, I'm pretty sure they're going to be limited everywhere for several weeks or months... All Professionals are going to want a 5090 for the extra VRAM & Bandwidth but for Gamers it might be a very different story.
If we remove MFG (A.I.) the 5090 is not a great upgrade for someone who has a 4090... 30-40% more performance fof 25% more money is probably the worst gen over gen value we've ever seen in terms of RAW Performance (the RTX 20s were different because they added RT & Tensor cores that took a lot of space on the die..).
Therefore the RTX 50s might not sell well if Intel & AMD really have some great 5060/Ti & 5070/Ti competitors (and capacity too which is not the case with Intel GPUs as of now).

Depending on what games you play and if you play at Medium/High or Very High/Ultra settings and what Resolution you pay too, you might not need to upgrade. The only advantage of the RTX 50s is MFG other than that it's not really a worthy upgrade, unless you have a 4K OLED/QD-OLED 240Hz monitor and really want to play at 4K@240fps

Alder's supplies were also microscopic, since Intel already knew that it had produced garbage and no one or almost no one would buy this.

This is like those mining craze days. In short, RTX 5090 is not meant for retail market. Those stock will likely be channeled to companies making machines for AI purpose. AIB is also going to capitalize on this and price their cards as they please just like what we experienced few years back with Ampere.

This is a criminal offense, cheating to the investors, the JHH could go in prison for this!

Regarding the poor stock - no one will care, anyways, if the rumours about single-digit performance increase turns out as the truth.

Yes, it is criminal offence. But laughably cheap to breach.

”The plaintiffs accused Nvidia and its CEO Jensen Huang of violating a 1934 federal law called the Securities Exchange Act by making statements in 2017 and 2018 that falsely downplayed how much of Nvidia's revenue growth came from crypto-related purchases.
….

Nvidia in 2022 agreed to pay $5.5 million to U.S. authorities to settle charges that it did not properly disclose the impact of cryptomining on its gaming business, but without admitting or denying the findings of federal regulators.”

And they still haven’t paid anything.

It's a miracle they even cared to launch these gpu's for pc enthusiasts when they are selling for hundreds of millions of dollars to governments and corporations.
That MSRP could be just for show.

I think the 50 series are going to be in limited supply everywhere but the States. They haven't even been listed anywhere in Canada yet but I see them on Best buy and new egg in the USA. No prices yet but I expect sticker shock if your not buying a FE card.

If you want a 5090 you probably won't be getting one for at least 6 months, maybe longer. The bots are insane these days when it comes to auto buying/refreshing pages.

In other words, water is wet and the sun is warm, there will be high demand for a product which people actually want to buy. Just like it happened with the 9800X3D. These clickbait scaremongering posts are easily the worst part of a product launch cycle, it only brings the biased ばか out in droves to throw accusations around with no substance whatsoever just to score some points with their likeminded fans of the opposing brand

Europe should put 100% tariffs on all chips created using ASML machines sold in the US. And ban selling top AI chips created on these machines in the US.

LMAO this is the funniest thing I've read all week

I have like 100 playstation 2 games to replay in 4k upscaled OLED, and my 7900 XT, heck even my APU can do 1800p upscaled fine. I think a lot of people have forgotten the pure joy of actual gaming, and its really sad. That being said, those few who do buy a 5090 to actually game, I don't blame them either. It would be pretty cool to play those 3-5 games decent AAA games with max eye candy turned on. I am honestly having so much with replaying my old PS2 games though, combined with my current backlog, i just see no point in upgrading at all.

Well well...
Its ok for you to judge AMD and predict the moves on every AMD related post about what is doing in the GPU space for or because of lousy moves (that did) of the past but god forbidden if any of it is towards nVIdia.
Yeah this article is out of the blue driven because nVidia has only love(lace) for gamers as has proved in the past (haha), written by an AMD fanboy editor (@T0@st) of the site you support.
Lets all praise nVidia for not making anything that can be done to milk customers. Never done so too in the past... (haha again).

Nice going!
Money, cough and "love" is indeed hard to hide... old people are saying for a good reason.

-------------------------------------------------

I apologize in advanced if I dont understood correctly what you actually said about this article/thread, but clickbait and scaremongering?
What is suppose to scare? If it turns out to be wrong then lets call it false alarm. Is it manufacturing any artificial push of potential nVidia customers over to AMD? Is that what you're saying?
They all should wait and see what happens.

Nvidia could help make the cards less desirable to the AI/LLM market by removing all the AI features and focus solely on raster. That's a sacrifice I'd be willing to make. More raster, less AI. Like you said.

For gamers.
That's what AMD did with RDNA and look where it got them.
People are stupid.
People buy stuff based on marketing lies and FOMO, not cold hard logic.

I've always had RTX cards and so I've never hesitated to enable RT in games that support it, and even I don't play with RT enabled in the overwhelming majority of games. It's just too expensive - even on a high-end Nvidia card like a 3090, I found the cost to framerate doesn't justify the image quality improvement. Do I want raytracing at 60fps with blurry DLSS smearing and soft-edges, or do I want to just run it at a crisp, sharp, native resolution and still get >100fps?

As Linus was quoted on the WAN show the other day, "I'm not spending $2000 on a graphics card to turn on DLSS"

You did not understand it correctly, yes, but no apology necessary. This isn't a defense of Nvidia especially since this does not directly concern them, it's the several AIBs which redistribute their products in some shape or form instead. I used the 9800X3D as an example because it, too, is seeing several shortages with orders drawn out months in advance, but it's obviously not because AMD intentionally doesn't make enough of them, but rather because the demand is very high.

Make good products and demand will always be high - to the point that it might as well exceed supply. Don't shoot the messenger, Toast is just doing their job, which is bring us tech news posts from around the internet. It's just that such articles tend to be nonsense with very little value beyond sparking flame wars and having people insinuate bad faith and dastardly conduct from the company they happen not to like. Anyone who's been in this game for some time knows that there won't be enough cards for every prospective buyer on day one, especially now that hardware scalping has actually become a thing.

The funny thing is in the Netherlands we don't even have an official foundation card dealer.

Impressive. AUS typically gets stuff late, in tiny quantities, with markup, right?
I don't have friends living in AUS, I can only comment with feedback from Kiwi friends who I presume suffer similar availability/price/stock problems to Aussies?

As Linus was quoted on the WAN show the other day, "I'm not spending $2000 on a graphics card to turn on DLSS"

Linus may be stupid and not be able to understand that we have hit the silicon limit on the hardware side and the raster improvements on the software side.
So you either get DLSS and RT/PT or stay where you were in 2018 for the next 15-20 years.
RTX 5000 is the proof that since nVidia didn't get their 3nm chips, they did not have any choice but to release software upgrades and ...whatever architectural changes were possible to be made at that point.

Regarding the prices, I find utterly normal for nVidia and AMD to ask whatever they want for their gpus since this is the most important part of a gaming, and not only, PC.
So many companies sell cases, PSUs, MBs, etc at ridiculous prices without any risk or innovation while they sell top notch tech and what? they should price them at affordable prices??? why should they?

"Look what we can make!"

But we don't want to make too many at once because if you really want one, you are going to have to sacrifice something that you really like.

And we really enjoy seeing our dedicated, loyal customers suffer while we reap the incredible benefits that have been owed to us for so long.

So, to our beloved customers, we just want to say "Fuck You".
