nvidia sells AI cards with 1000% profit margin and in the gpu market has no competition, they make their own weather like it or not. This is more a failure or the competition, every monopoly will end like this

The notion that Nvidia gives scraps to gamers cannot be true for the simple fact that if it was true their competitors would be offering twice the performance by now, but they don't. Something doesnt add up here. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to amd, if their 9070xt doesnt match the 5080 at half the price then they are also giving us "the scraps" in which case the phrase itself doesn't mean anything.
It is true, look at their AI and datacenter profit share relative to gaming, although they've clouded the whole ratio by changing it to "AI & gaming".
And a competitor delivering the best they can within their R&D budget doesn't equal giving their customer the scraps, it isn't the same thing at all. I'm not even going to get into what the 9070XT should cost compared to the 5080, because you'll buy Nvidia anyway and so will everyone else even though Nvidia is withholding RTX 50 series supply to keep prices high.
Sure, sure, Nvidia doesn’t care about gamers. They engineered all this gaming technology:

because they don’t care. They did it because they didn’t have anything else to do I’m sure.

Back onto ignore with you. I’ll check again next month to see if a clue has seeped into your brain.
All of that tech and Blackwell is just minor uplift over Ada, and the architecture itself hasn't changed much since Turing, instead of improving raster they just add more tensor cores.
And Nvidia does have plenty else to do, but that isn't for the gaming market, Jensen hasn't cared about the gaming market since before the crypto boom, and it's obvious they started to shift away from the focus on gaming since the Titan card.

Please do not reply to me and leave me on ignore.

High-grade blackboards are made from porcelain-enameled steel, which is a reflective material. So you're basically upset about realism, which is... okay, that's a take of all time.
It would not be glossy at with all the damn chalk writing on it, Which by the way you can actually freaking see before enabling the damn glossy dog crap that you claim is "realistic". I am not complaining about "realistic" I'm complaining about It being UNREALISTIC FROM ITS ACTUAL USE.

I swear you just sit on this website to troll anyone that comments you.

Maybe that's why nvidia doesn't lower their prices. Cause you'll buy amd anyways, so what's the point?

Doesn't Snowden have better things to do, like fellate Vladimir Putin?

Yes. Because that's what it is.
You wanted to say that CEOs of companies like Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Google and many others are doing fellate to the :respect:NSA PRISM :pimp: - worse, at the expense of users of their services, at the expense of citizens.

Snowden didn't want to run away to Russia but unfortunately another country doing fellate to the US government refused to grant him diplomatic asylum.

As for the card, it is a very weak version of the XX80, very weak because it is supposedly the highest model for gamers, a card for $ 1000 released two years after the debut of the RTX 4000. 10% for $ 1000+ 2 yeas ? Probably only because Nvidia has 90% of the market and AMD said it will not fight for the most efficient card on the market and will focus on the mid-range.

And no, these are not good cards because the requirements of games do not stand still. And the new games that will come out, UE5 itself and 4K, RT require powerful cards and vram.
Too bad, because the RTX 5080 is not a serious competitor as it was RTX 4090, 5090 or even 4080. Its hard to believe that AMD would not be able to release something faster then 5080 - even just for the of competition itself.

SO TRUE... RTX 5080 $1000 MSRP and they are selling WAY OVER THAT its crazy i will buy it if it was for $699-749 MAX then yes this is the right price, the GTX 1080 ti day one was $699 and is stock that was flag ship card YES its not 2018 but still 5080 is not flagship TopTier , so $699 to $749 is a fair price since no leap in performance over last gen only dlss4 if nvidia wanted they could add it to older gpus but its a selling scam for a 5090 $1199-1299 MAX , i bought my 3080Ti not in those crazy high prices days i paid 2 years ago FEB-19-2023 $500 out the door and i am not upgrading.

Just wanna reiterate that Snowden was probably not talking about the value of these cards for gaming. His shtick is digital privacy. He wants broader public access to local AI models, not HD textures.

I'm shaking my head a bit at the 5 pages of comments that may as well have been in response to MLID or some YT shoutyhead. Like, whoosh.

So, anyone here tried running Ollama?

50 series sold out in 20 minutes. In substantial numbers and mainly speed that was never seen before. Now we're certainly not going to see more than 15% generational uplift anymore if the scalper bots get their way. The physics won't allow it anyway since 5 angstrom could be a hard limit. Rubin on N3 has only 30% better density, N2 another 15% and it's over. the usual generational uplift needs 2X density.

Speak for yourself, LOL.
It takes a very special kind of person to be so biased and so fond of a multi-trillion dollar company to call others names, reminds me of diehard fans of a certain fruit branded company.
It's sad some people can't see past their own hubris in reaction to a thread of their favorite company being called greedy assholes.
Didn‘t you get the memo? AMD is too expensive because of Nvidia!
Exactly, Nvidia are the ones controlling the market.

I think there wasn't that many of them made tbh - the OEMs basically said they had almost no stock of 5090 and not that much of the 5080. Arrow lake also "sold out" as well and we all know how excited everyone was for those.

What sort of logic is this? Nvidia won't lower prices because because they have no reason to when gamers keep buying it no matter what, influencers recommend it even when the improvement over previous gen is miniscule, and they don't get punished for lying to consumers, the claim of the 5070 being faster than the 4090 when the 5080 doesn't even beat a 4090.

Newegg showed they had palettes and pallets of them.

As did every Microcenter.

I personally do not care about other peoples computers, I like to look at them in the case pics thread. But to me its just hardware, run what you want. I dont judge anyone for what they have in their tower.

Unless they are kind of being a jerk about it..
My case is bigger than yours :p

Yep and they're still there.... Not the 10 5090s but yeah you can buy a 5080 if you want. It's similar to the 4xxx launch in this regard where the 4090 was unobtanium and the 4080 was available.

Also i cant read websites apparently.

The amount of pocket watching from people who were unable to get the 5090 - and are angry - and suffering from FOMO - is shameful.
Looking at the opening comments: how can one call people idiots for buying something they decided they wanted - using their money?
All that aside: I use mine for earning money and I got mine fair and square.

Only idiots are buying these new nvidia gpus for use, most are buying to resell to idiots that have more money than sense and I believe AMD will be the same, another failure overpriced GPUS.
Yea. These prices- Looks like I'm rolling with my Vega64 for a while longer. Hoping it keeps going. September 2017 is when I got it. lol.

Pricing of Nvidia products are so overblown because of the monolithic chip design in the first place.

5080 is the 5070 16 GB. 24 later, but snowmen should know that. In the 20 series 2080 Ti was also 50% faster than a 2070 with 2X shader count and 2X price. Those halo chips don't scale very well for games.
There was a separate chip for the 2080 that simply doesn't exist now, that would be a 4090 derivative with 14336 cores. Either Nvidia got lazy or it wasn't wort it.

He has to pay all the middle men to smuggle it into russia so he's probably extra salty.

Getting anything like this there right now is probably not great $/fps.
