I've expected $699 from the very beginning. It doesn't make sense for them to undercut by more than 50, because they will gain market share as long as the product proves itself worthy
They have have had worthy products before, it did not gain them market share. If these cards come in at 700, they have blown it. They have a shot now, it may hurt in the short run, but they will gain share at a 550 real msrp, not 699. 699 with partner cards at a thousand takes away the perception that they are for the enthusiast and puts them lock step with Nvidia.

System Name XPS, Lenovo and HP Laptops, HP Xeon Mobile Workstation, HP Servers, Dell Desktops
Processor Everything from Turion to 13900kf
Motherboard MSI - they own the OEM market
Cooling Air on laptops, lots of air on servers, AIO on desktops
Memory I think one of the laptops is 2GB, to 64GB on gamer, to 128GB on ZFS Filer
Video Card(s) A pile up to my knee, with a RTX 4090 teetering on top
Storage Rust in the closet, solid state everywhere else
Display(s) Laptop crap, LG UltraGear of various vintages
Case OEM and a 42U rack
Audio Device(s) Headphones
Power Supply Whole home UPS w/Generac Standby Generator
Software ZFS, UniFi Network Application, Entra, AWS IoT Core, Splunk
Benchmark Scores 1.21 GigaBungholioMarks
Those numbers are still meaningless for desktop DIY market because they include 7-8 million switch consoles, laptop mobile gpu, and system integrators that buy in bulk at a discount. That likely make up 70% plus of total sales.

I’m confused what you are trying to say. Are you disputing that Nvidia is shipping everything the foundries can pump out?

You are trying to say they have 25% margins which neither you or I can prove on their desktop diy cards all we know is that if you want a gpu from their current lineup the cheapest one is 899 usd and that price was listed weeks prior to launch and it's due to the lack of supply and very few cards being resupplied at least here in the usa I have bot trackers on almost every model and this is 30 series like supply during an actual shortage maybe even worse. 40 series came out over 2 years ago an had much better supply on the same node.

Who knows maybe there is something really wrong with Blackwell and they ran into a bunch of issues during manufacturing and if that is the case Nvidia should say it. It would make sense with all the issues they are having.

Dude. It’s in their 10-K. I even gave you the page number. Why are you insisting that it’s something else?

I’ll even screenshot it for you.

Dude, that includes laptop, switch, system integrators and is based on 30/40 series anyways we are not talking about 40 series and older. It also includes GeForce now that they probably make very little from.

Also wake me up when you find one that includes desktop diy gpu's only....

Again what’s your point? I’ve said gaming the entire time.

Are you arguing just to argue? WTF? It’s in their fucking government filing that they are supply constrained.

If you don’t know how to read a financial statement just say so and I’ll provide you with links.

They said in last quarter’s call they would be supply constrained. They said TODAY that supply will loosen up this quarter. They also said they are pre-purchasing wafers from TSMC with over a year lead time.

You can read the investors call transcript at seeking alpha.

Why would Nvidia ship everything the foundry pumps out? What about the Super "refresh" cards? Do they get their chips from nothing?

You are totally wrong!
I see this argument everywhere, but if the 9070 XT is equal to the 5070 Ti in every aspect (let's assume that FSR 4 is good), then why shouldn't AMD put as high a price on it as they can?

Don't get me wrong, I want it to be as cheap as possible myself, I just don't see how that would make sense from a business perspective.

As ive said before, if 699$ is a walk in price (go into the store, grab one, pay 699$) that's a decent price. Now they need enough stock to keep the price there instead of it skyrocketing to the moon.

Assuming rumored performance basically a 7900XTX with much better RT and FSR4 is good. The only slight downer is the 16GB but that might help keep it in stock more vs if it was 24GB.

Right now old RX 7800 XT costs 457€ only to match this old gpu RX 9070 XT shold be at least 53% faster for msrp of 699€ the same old boring p/p level aka another stagnation.

+-5-10% raster performance vs the 5070ti is basically a wash, it mostly comes down to the games being tested. So let's hope it lands there. RT is expected to be better than 5070 but worse than 5070ti, so if the price lands between the 2, it's a winner. Now let's all pray for FSR 4 to be good and implemented in games.

Yeah ram is an issue but I expect the people that complained last gen about nvidias ram won't care now :p

The big issue I see is the 5060 / 5060ti. If they launch soon they are surely gonna be cheaper than 699$ and all sales will go there until amd decides to launch their competitor. They need to move quicker.

The 7800 XT is cheaper now because AMD is clearing stock. Its MSRP is 499, which is a 40% difference vs 699.

The 9070 XT is said to be 38-42% faster than the 7900 GRE, which is 10% faster than the 7800 XT - that gives us 42-46% perf. over the 7800 XT for the aforementioned 40% higher price.

It's supposed be a lot faster than the 7800xt in RT. I said supposed, we need to see it pan out. Yeah i know, you think it's a gimmick, you can buy an rdna 3 in that case and people that don't think it's a gimmick can go for the 9070 series.

As long as it's available. AMD has stopped production of the 7800 XT. You'll probably get the 9070 non-XT at that (or similar) price point.

I'm not supporting high prices. I'm disgusted by them like anyone else. I just find them understandable from a business perspective. It's capitalism, baby! :(

Let me give it to you straight. Amd made more profit from that 7700 cpu you have in your signature than they are going to be making with a 699$ 9070xt. The GPU probably costs 3 times as much to make than an 8core cpu wth a tiny chiplet and some outdated io die.

Yep. And if you, or I want a x70-class GPU, what are we gonna buy? The expensive AMD one, or the even more expensive Nvidia one?

Or we'll just keep playing old classics on our old GPUs until sanity comes back to the IT industry, which I also don't find a totally terrible option. :)
