GELID, a fan manufacturer that I knew nothing about till yesterday, has launched the WING series - their first series of premium case fans in green color. A quick look at the specs of these fans immediately reveals that they are pretty good actually. Available in 8, 9 and 12cm sizes for gamers and modders, the WING series spin on an unique Nanoflux bearing motor which is not only water and dustproof, but also allows the impeller to be removed for cleaning. The fan blades are also designed to achieve larger airflow, greater static pressure and are UV reactive. A voltage regulator is also supplied with every fan, allowing the user to adjust the fan speed between 5-12 Volts as desired. All fans are backed by a 5 year warranty (MTTF 100'000 hours) and cost $12.50 for the WING 8 model, $13.50 for the WING 9 model and $16.40 for the WING 12 fan. Holy crap, those are nice case fans! I'm not much of a "fan" in aesthetics but if these fans got performance I'm so going to put these on special order!

Finally a solution. So many times where my computer falls into a pool of water and wished that my fans were still spinning :wtf:

LOL

I like the idea of them being waterproof and if these fans really are waterproof, I'll be purchasing a few. Putting them under running water to clean sounds great.

Here's an update on these fans as well as the ones made by Nanoxia (http://www.nanoxia-europe.com/). Apparently the two companies are not working together and Gelid has a case against them. It also looks Nanoxia is owned by Xenmicro.

"The Leipzig District Court (Landgericht) issued a preliminary injunctio on the 20th of August against Gelid Solutions Limited, Hong Kong, and Caseking GmbH, Berlin. The Court ordered the defendants under penalty of contempt to refrain from advertising, importing, exporting, offering for sale or otherwise placing on the market case fans for PCs with green-translucent fan blades. In doing so, the court granted a motion filed by Xen Micro GmbH.

Gelid Solutions, who are sharing a stand with Caseking at the Games Convention Trade Fair, had announced in the run-up to the fair that they were about to introduce black case fans with green-translucent blades on the German market.Xen Micro develops and distributes itself case fans with green-translucent fan blades under its NANOXIA brand. It had found Gelid Solutions' case fans to be copies of its own fans.

The injunction has community-wide scope, i.e. it is valid and enforceable throughout the EU territory. In addition, the court ordered the delivery-up of all case fans with green-translucent fan blades that are in either defendant's possession. The preliminary injunction, which was served upon both Caseking and Gelid Solutions at the Games Convention trade fair ont the 20th August, is an ex parte decision with preliminary character only and may be contested."

These fans are nothing special.

I have 7 of these fans in my Antec 1200 and in a little over a years time 3 of the 7 have failed.
Since these fans don't have retaining clips for the rotor the fan blades pop out of place causing a very loud shrieking noise. Luckily they do have a 5 year warranty but sending back faulty hardware is always a hassle.
