  • I was just looking at some prices on the ASUS Z890 mobos. They aren't cheap. All the way up to $1,100 for the ROG Maximus Extreme. The least expensive was $270

Yeah, this seems to be the way with MoBos nowadays. Which is why I tend to go and recommend mid-range chipsets now, like the Bx50 on AMD and Hx70 on Intel. A bit easier on AMD side since you don’t lose much of value (well, depends in what you need).
But yeah, paying for those top-tier boards is pointless unless you are into Extreme OC.
Windows startup sounds. Takes me back. I used a lot of these. My favorite of all was my XP startup. So friendly and welcoming to me.

Worst rated game in Steam's history. Flatout 3. Language not safe for work.

Truly, FlatOut 3 was a worthy heir to the perennial masterpiece that is Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. In fact, it was an improvement over its vaunted predecessor. In the sense that it was actually a somewhat functional video game… barely.

That Big Rigs game was a mess. I still get a chuckle when I see the Gamespot review video. They gave it a 1/10 and only because they don't give zeroes.

Well, technically Big Rigs did complete an installation and ran, so I understand the 1/10.
Flatout 3 was an insult to the two previous games and the reviews clearly made everyone aware of it.
Looks like the Borderlands movie is a turd. :( I guess it was expected to be so. 120 million dollars to make this movie. What a waste.

This couldn't really go well. Its not really known for any memorable characters apart from Claptrap. The rest is just filler imagery to shoot to bits or 'be'... and your character doesn't really do anything during the whole story. You're just witnessing events. There is zero character progression of any sort in any Borderlands. Level ups don't make for thriling scenes :D

I am baffled that someone, anyone thought that a BL movie would be a good idea. The writing and characters are… divisive at best and obnoxious at worst. And the games themselves are entirely carried by shooting and loot.
Hell, the reason why the Silent Hill movie (first one) is regarded as kinda-sorta okay is simply because there is an actual story to tell there. It was unnecessary, but hey ho.

It's a shame. Lately it has felt to me to be about 50/50 odds, which is better than it used to be. Guess we know which side of the percentage it fell.

A glimpse inside the often secretive Valve/Steam. Court documents in the anti-trust case against Valve reveals that they had around 336 employees in 2021 and 79 of those worked on Steam. In contrast:

    Microsoft Gaming ~ 20,100
    Ubisoft ~ 19,100
    EA ~ 13,700

Amazing what a big impact Steam has on the PC gaming world with so few employees.

To be fair, all the big publishers above have a ton of internal studios that are each big companies in their own right. Valve is just Valve. It’s understandable why they are comparatively small.

My favorite game (Space Invaders) in 1980 on my Atari 2600. I would just sit in front of the TV with a Coke and play this for a long time. I got to the point where I figured out the way to beat it even on the hardest level and never died. :) The guy in the video needed to clear the first row first and then clear entire columns to not die on the hardest level.

That's what I'm hearing. In MP you have to do War Crimes or you're going to lose.
But, really. This is just a video game. It's taking it too seriously for the Red Cross to be getting upset over what gamers are doing in a video game which isn't real life and there are no real victims.

Funny. Currently in the middle of an actual war, serenaded with soviet-era heavy MGs/AA here, yet having a blast blowing heads off random NPCs and nuking presidential speeches in Fallout NV...
Respect the Red Cross, but someone should've really asked "are the people we're reaching with this need to be reminded of it?"

More like an awareness event, IMHO.

I would be amused to watch whoever came up with this go through the rimworld subreddit...
