Today I went to VCFMW 18 with my father! We got there shortly before the youtuber panel started, so it was dense with people before they went down to the room where the talks were.
I got a couple Xeon Phis for $20 each and an old SGI workstation.

I made an attempt at adding Above 4G decoding using the guide here, and I guess something went awry at some point (probably with the flashing process), because now it can't POST...

I recently scored a used EVGA 1600 G2 from the local antique mall for $100. It works like a charm, but it’s kinda beaten up with numerous scratches and dings.

Going on a vacation starting on Tuesday! I won't have WCG running during that time (roughly a week).

My Z77 board arrived today! The air cooler that was included is in irreparable condition - the retention plate thing is completely separated and from the heat pipes… thankfully the CPU and board look fine. It came with an i7, but I really want to attempt some FSB overclocking with my Pentium G2020.

I couldn't find any good pictures of the video card inside the Compaq Portable, so I removed the one inside mine and it looks pretty neat. Does anyone happen to know how much video memory it has? If I had to guess, probably like 128 kilobytes or something like that.

I never heard of frozencpu.com until today, and I am very disappointed that it is closing. There is so much cool stuff for sale I wish I'd known about earlier. Something I find interesting is a LAN harness that carries a PC tower, pc peripherals, and cables. Here's a photo. I saw that there are XSPC 560mm rads for sale, which I didn't know exist until now.

I have been considering getting an AIDA64 license. The 30-day trial thing is pretty annoying. I noticed the trial period reset once I downloaded a version that was a bit older, and I reckon my cache/mem speeds will get too inaccurate if I download older and older versions.

Today I received a mid-2010 21.5in iMac from a friend of a family member. I replaced the old hard drive (per request of previous owner) and put it back together. I powered it up and didn't get a video output. It does chime, the hard drive spins up, and I think I can hear the fans, so that's kinda promising. It's a neat machine, so it would be nice to get working.

this CPU looks pretty neat
with the tapered corner it reminds me of a socket 478 CPU, but the ceramic under the IHS makes it look quite different
