    Which vid card?

A FX5700LE should be fine since most of them use passive heatsinks. Or just re-use your old card if possible.

    9500 np 64 modding to 9700pro 128.....

Mate, like wazzledoozle said you would have to be very good with a soldering iron to attach bga/tsop ram modules. You have a very high chance of permanently damaging the card. I reckon its not worth the risk. Anyway, Goodluck :)

Current GeCube 9550XT on Hynix memory

Yes we have the same card, except mine has 2.8ns memory and yours has 2.5ns. After I overclocked my card to 497/324 my 3Dmark03 score went from 3180 to 4024. I was very pleased with that! :D. Yours most likely could 400mhz.

    Upgrade decision

It depends, are you a frequent user of computer games? If so are they GPU intensive ones? If they are upgrade to the 9800Pro. But if you don't play much computer games than just upgrade the motherboard.

Current GeCube 9550XT on Hynix memory

That memory is 2.5ns and is capable of 400mhz(x2). So you should get a pretty good overclock out of it!

ASUS A9550 GE/TD / Arctic Cooling VGA Silencers

I was able to fit a ATI SLINCER 2 to my 9550XT only because it was based on the 9600XT design (same PCB but different core). So if your card is built on a 9600XT board like mine then you are able to use a Silencer.

    Ati tools artifact finder....

Well I tried manually, I got it to 497 then ran a few loops of 3Dmark 03 and it seems very stable. I think I will just leave it there for now. Until HL2 comes out when I'll be overclocking it to its max for more performance :D. Cheers BIOS

    Ati tools artifact finder....

Hey guys, I recently installed an Ati Silencer on my 9550XT (based on 9600XT PCB so it fits) and previously I was able to O/C it to 486Mhz on stock cooling using Ati Tools max core feature. But now I can only get an extra 6mhz! with the find maximum core feature! I installed the Silencer again...

Yeah, if your card is capable of running at 9600Pro speeds then bios flash it. Just remember to backup your old bios just incase.
