X79 and/or rampage IV OC'ing thread for those of us still left....

My main X79 rig went poof last night. The first time in 12 years since I built it. I'll do an autopsy on it later this afternoon to see what can be saved from it. I have plenty of parts on hand to revive it and this time it's getting Win 10 Enterprise LTSC IoT as the operating system.

    X99 Club

I'm moving into Senior living in a few weeks and decided to complete my final X99 build. I had everything needed on hand so it's less stuff to move as parts. I was going to go with a 6950X at first then decided to use my E5 2699 V4 instead. More than twice the cores, better silicon, same power...

    What's your latest tech purchase?

Two more Silverstone FHP141's off Ebay. At $16 each I couldn't resist. That's the best price I've seen them for in at least 10 years.

    What's your latest tech purchase?

Do automobiles count? I took delivery of my new 2024 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE last Thursday. It's got so much tech in it that I'm still figuring some of it out. This is my third leased XSE Hatchback and they've redone almost everything over my former 2021. Best of all the formerly $1800...

Actually the drivers used by Intel, ASMedia and other controllers can widely affect performance. The SATA and USB drivers both affect performance.

Announcement: VPN's no longer work right in Windows 10 or 11 or Servers

No slowdown on any of my Win 10 or 11 rigs using Nord VPN but I have updates turned off using WUB. I only allow security updates when needed and even then long after the updates are released.

    fastest usb cable /transfer

There are many variables when it comes to USB speeds. Interface, drivers, devices and file sizes are all factors. With USB C even the cable used can be a huge factor when going from USB C to USB C storage. Large files will at times transfer far faster than several much smaller files. I don't...

    What's your latest tech purchase?

After finding out that Vizio has cut me a check for a full refund on a defective 43" 4K M-series I decided to spend it on this: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 96GB (2x48GB) 6400MT/s CL32-39-39-102 1.35V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM - Matte White...

12600K price drops are making me hesitate.

My 12600K has been rock solid at 5.3GHZ and runs very cool with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 w/4 stock Arctic fans in push/pull externally mounted and using the Thermalright contact frame. I'm still debating on putting my 13600KF in that rig along with upgrading the fans to Arctic P12 Max's I...

    G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6400 64 GB CL32

It's A die. That's reflected in the last digit of the part number. I have the same 64GB kit in my Z790 rig. I'm planning on seeing if 96GB (48x2) will work. No complaints from me, performance has been flawless so far.
