AMD Allegedly Has 200,000 Radeon RX 7900 Series GPUs for Launch Day

I agree on the fact that EU is a bigger market (or at least same size) since wealth is more distributed and we don't (all) live on tips and coupons. On the other hand, GDP is an old-school measure that don't mean anything more than "how much money is stored in this country". It was invented in...

Smartphone Production Fell to About 289 Million Units for 3Q22 as Demand Was Not Sufficient to Offset Inventory Pressure and Economic Headwinds

Did people suddenly realize that a smartphone can last more than 8 month ?

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with Nearly Half its Power-limit and Undervolting Loses Just 8% Performance

No shit sherlock.... Nothing new here. Overclocking for the crown of "The fastest GPU possible" always had a huge impact on consumption, especially GPU, in order to get the crown for a few percentage over the other.

What CPU architecture do you use?

My 3600X is fully functional and I won't need a supercomputer anytime soon. All my games run smoothly enough (RTX 2070 by his side). My last one was a i7 860...

South Korea Issues Arrest Warrant for Terra/LUNA Crypto Founder Do Kwon

In its actual form yes. The (theorical) goal is to get an universal coin, that everybody can work with, and cannot be printed, removing problem of inflation and deflation of a currency. They are many problems actually : There's many coins, so the idea is basically ruined Coins aren't mined, so...

    G.SKILL Announces DDR5-6800 CL32 2x16GB and DDR5-6400 CL32 2x32GB Trident Z5 RGB Memory Kits

Depends on what you do. I'm working with Databases you might either search for latency or bandwith, because when you are single-threaded, latency is very important, while with multi-thread requests (like 64 or 128 cores working), you care more about bandwidth. And Intel Optane is still used as...

South Korea Issues Arrest Warrant for Terra/LUNA Crypto Founder Do Kwon

Crypto is technically a good idea on its own. The problem is that they connect a regulated market (any actual market), with an unregulated one, and somehow "anonymously". Things can only go sideways for the regulated market, while it bounce on and off for unregulated one.

iVoler Introduces Coveted Pro Version Steam Deck Dock

Thanks for the complete answer ! Make more sense if you don't have any decent PC to play on indeed. But it means you have no Desktop or Laptop that can handle a few 1080p games. Affordable 1080p GPU are around 150$... Still, my choice wouldn't be to buy a Steam Deck, but that's my choice :)

iVoler Introduces Coveted Pro Version Steam Deck Dock

Ok, why not. But do you know a lot of people having a gaming computer, a Steam Deck, and no laptop to work on, so they use their Steam Deck instead ? It's more than a niche.

iVoler Introduces Coveted Pro Version Steam Deck Dock

I don't even understand why you would buy such a thing ? A Steam Deck main purpose is to have your habitual games you have on your computer, available on a portable device, giving up some performance. So, if you already have a PC, and playing on it, why on Earth would you buy something like...

Are components with high power draw an issue for you?

Your judging all my environmental behavior just based on a point I was making ? Oh boy ... TL;DR : go to last paragraph ! First, we are talking (mainly) about components OC by design with very high consumption. Like this kind of baby (i9-12900K): Yeah I'm pointing the fact that you behave...

TSMC Founder Says Growing Domestic US Chip Production is Wasteful and Expensive

He is not wrong based on simple facts : working a fab 24/7 without power grid shortage, and low costs for paying extra all the workers, it's not clearly not a good idea in the USA. The wage needed to live in the US is far more higher than any country : everything is expensive. A 1M dollar bill...

Are components with high power draw an issue for you?

Sure let's do this. 30 days a month. So your full house electric equipment consumption goes to 105kWh/month Let's just consider that your overclocking consumes 300W : GPU overclocked + cooled ; CPU overclocked +cooled ; by choice (manual OC) or by design (native overclocking by the...

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic to Transport Players Back to the Icy Realm of Northrend Later This Year

Just looking at numbers, its pretty abusive to charge 15$/€ as monthly contribution to ... duplicate an old version that a few people will play instead of creating content. There's a daily peak at 500k players and 5.5M monthly (https://activeplayer.io/world-of-warcraft/). So I'm not counting...

Are components with high power draw an issue for you?

You really don't get it, do you ? Let's do some math and calculate real numbers in real life. I'm using Wh/day to keep an understandable calculation. A PC is consuming 500W when playing. You're using it 3h/day in average : 1500Wh/day A washing machine is consuming 1500Wh per cycle but you do...
