Attribute 252 should mean this:
Newly Added Bad Flash Block:
The "Newly Added Bad Flash Block" attribute indicates the total number of bad flash blocks the drive detected since it was first initialized in manufacturing.
I would recommend installing "Samsung Magician" and check if there are...
The files that you were not able to copy are sadly lost forever.
I would hurry up and backup anything that can still be copied to another drive,
that drive is dead and needs to be RMA'ed.
You should also backup your other 870 EVO 4TB as it might just get the same problem.
The biggest difference in performance I ever saw with my 990 PRO was when I reinstalled Windows.
Even though the drive was installed as a secondary data-drive, it still became a lot faster
(the drive was also just an empty drive in both cases, with nothing installed on it yet).
Before...
How full is your drive? SSD's sadly get slower and slower the more data you put on them.
Some SSD's can't even retain their advertised speed anymore once you reach 25% full (or more).
The 980 PRO is actually a PCIe Gen 4 drive (with Read/Write speeds of 7000/5000 MB/s).
I did look at it, and in your screenshot it appears you cannot get any faster speed than 3500 MB/s.
You also said yourself that you tested the drive in a motherboard with only PCIe Gen 3 on it,
so your...
That's a really good point, most SSD's will drop in speed as they get filled with data.
Most SSD's I've seen won't even get the advertised speed anymore, once they are filled past 25% full.
I'm not sure why it's like that, but it's certainly a huge drawback with SSD's.
You are not going to get the full advertised speed of the 980/990 PRO on a system with only PCIe Gen 3.0 on it.
You would be limited to around 3500 MB/s Reads/Writes (since that is the maximum speed of PCIe Gen 3.0).
So this is normal then, i was getting worried when i noticed reads/writes that were that high from just a single run.
Even made a whole Thread about it lol

I have the 4TB model myself, and...
I don't intend to get the BE202 as it's only 160 Mhz (which is essentially the same as WiFi 6E).
That's why I'm only looking at the BE200 options (which are 320 Mhz).
But what's the thing about 14th Gen processors? Does the BE200/202 only work on Intel's latest 14th Gen CPU's?
There is 1 bad Block on it already, i would hurry up and backup your data while you still can
(the 870 EVO will not let you backup data once it starts getting a lot of ECC/CRC errors).
Yeah those two drives are not only a little defective, they are way past the breaking point so to speak.
I wish CrystalDiskInfo would be more clear about it's Health-status and percentage when it comes to the 870.
People might think their drive is doing fine when they see that it's 99% (Good)...
I really don't like how CrystalDiskInfo gives these drives a Blue (Good) icon and 99% health
people could misunderstand this if they don't know what to look for.
These two drives should be shown in Red (Bad) and also show something much lower than 99% health.
How do they look if you check...
