    TPU's Nostalgic Hardware Club

Hey guys, long time no see. Yes, it's been a while since the last time I've checked in here, but I'm very much glad to see that our old thread is still going strong :) I've had some serious family drama last year, probably for the best not to go into too much details (some of the info had been...

Sorry for being late, but thank you. No, it hasn't been very happy, unfortunately. I lost my mom due to recently discovered sarcoma, it all happened within 3 months. From being diagnosed, to having tests, undergoing a surgery and then ultimately, losing the battle.

To tell you the truth, 5.01.2600 doesn't mean much to me, I don't understand MS code tags. But yeah, figured that it was either 2000 or XP.

For a brief moment you actually had me there ... I figured ME Second Edition was actually a "thing", something I missed. Like for example, I had no idea that 98 SE existed, up until someone brought it up years ago. Win 2000 ... or XP maybe?

IMHO, no LCD panel ever will be able to truly emulate CRT ... and that's the real problem here. Sure, they can make it look more or less similar in terms of colors & contrast, but the flicker & refresh rate will always appear different on LCD no matter what. That is why I reverted back from LCD...

Sounds about right, unfortunately. It's a real shame though, it would appear that Flatron series is prone to these problems after certain period of time.

Flatron ... now, that's a name I haven't heard in years! Used to have 775FT back in 2007, 2008 until it eventually died. As I remember, the picture was getting darker & darker to the point where it wouldn't want to turn on, and it was making a loud, clicking sounds. Kinda like high voltage...

At first I assumed that the card was simply fried. But judging from the PCI plate it appears to be heavily vandalized ... any idea what happened to it? Some of you may recall that I mentioned & talked about stairwell lighting fixtures, and how I preserved some of them while I had the chance...

"Can you please describe the content, sir?" -Yeah, it's an old piece of hardware, difficult to come by nowadays. "Hardware, sir?" -Yeah, that's a TNT in there It would make a very interesting conversation at the post office, no doubt :D

Beautiful! You simply can't go wrong with Slot 1 platform, even if it's VIA based (personally, I prefer 440BX)

Perfect card for Pentium II era, I've had mine paired with PII 350 for years. Come to think of it, still do!

Right?! These things are solid and heavy. The actual shade (globe) is entirely made out of thick glass, while the original fixture (base) was made from either porcelain OR bakelite ... depending on who (and when) it was manufactured. Modern fixtures however are made entirely out of cheap...

It's been a while since I posted anything nostalgic-related in here. Mainly because I had to move on from old tech due to financial reasons, not to mention the fact that I sold most of my Voodoo & Tualatin collection keeping only the most essential & nostalgic pieces for myself. Such as those...

When performing memory test, be on a lookout for error reports, which would suggest that you are having corrupt RAM module(s). Sometimes you can experience random issues & data "blackouts" (missing files, corrupt data) due to hardware malfunction and/or incompatible BIOS settings. You could...
