The release version of the upcoming enthusiast-grade motherboard by MSI, based on the Intel X58 chipset for the upcoming Core i7 series processors, has been pictured at Coolaler. The close-up snaps show the motherboard to be packing quite some booty. It also shows that MSI hasn't used exorbitant cooling for the motherboard. There are two independent cooling units for the chipset and VRM areas. The board sports Dr-MOS component protection, and MSI seems to have spread the MOSFETs evenly, not to congest them at one place. The board provides a diagnostic display feature called D-LED 2, a small LED screen that shows diagnostic information, similar to the LCD poster that ASUS packs with some of its motherboards.

The board features an extensive set of expandability options. It features three PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots that support both ATI CrossfireX and NVIDIA 3-way SLI for multi-GPU operations. It uses overclocker-friendly features on-board, including the peculiar turbo button. There are also 10 SATA ports, four of which, route to an external controller. All in all, the board looks promising. It isn't the highest MSI would be offering for the X58 plaform, with an even higher motherboard planned. For more pictures, browse through the thread.

That's a much better colour scheme. ;)

Anyway, Bit-Tech have a bit of a preview on this board.

A tempting MSI board for once..

Sweet looking board! I love that color scheme.

So with all the X58 hardware showing up now, do you think that this means they are going to be released soon?

yes the said week 40/44 probaly for mainboards

man that is a nice looking board.

The thing I really like about MSI boards is the way they space the PCI-E slots. Instead of putting them 1 slot apart, as the majority of mobo manufacturers do, they put them 2 slots apart so that if you're using two dual-slot graphics cards, the topmost card can actually get some airflow. Contrast that with the boards from Asus and Gigabyte, where twin dual-slot cards are severely cramped, and you'll see what I mean.

I must also say it's a good looking board, except for the fact that it's a bit heavy on the black. Red or orange PCI-E/memory slots would've been cool.

I hope the board comes with it's own Crossfire bridges!

You would of thought that MSI would of learned there lesson with sata slots. Slapping a 280 in one these and your sata access is screwed. No MSI board for me.

That's just the thing, MSI doesn't learn, they put out crappy board after crappy board that look decent but cna't function worth crap. I spent the last year fighting with MSI support and the P35 Platinum. I finally gave up and got an Asus P5Q Deluxe, all I can say is night and day difference in quality and stabillity. All who complain about Asus boards, get an MSI board and feel the pain.

Looks tempting. Man, I need to get some cash. ME WANTS A NEHALEM RIG!

6 Sata ports are still availible in this case.. the once which are on the corner of the board horizontaly

MSI seems to alway like to jazz things up a bit. i just hope all the jazzin is as functional as it looks.

see the 2nd pic. can they put the mosfet in right place
