Today, AMD is announcing two new processors to its products line - AMD Phenom X3 8850 Black Edition and AMD Athlon X2 5050e. The Socket AM2+ triple core X3 8850 (TRAY OPN# HD8850WCJ3BGH) works at 2.5GHz, has a TDP of 95W and 2MB of L3 cache. The Phenom X3 8850 is the first triple-core Phenom processor to be part of the company's Black Edition series and as such it has unlocked multiplier for overclocking. The AMD Athlon X2 5050e (TRAY OPN# ADH5050IAA5DO) is a dual-core 45W processor that operates at 2600MHz.
Sooner or later AMD is also expected to commence shipments of two low-power chips - the single-core 1.6GHz Athlon 2650 (TDP 15W), and the dual-core Athlon X2 3250e, running at 1.5GHz and requiring up to 22W. November will also see AMD's "Ultra-Value Client (UVC) Solutions", the chips that will possibly compete with Intel Atom CPUs for netbooks. These are only for the OEM customers, though.

Wow, very nice. Id like to see the TDP on the tri core a little lower though.

what they should do is make a 5050e BE lol:D I love they're energy efficient cpu they work just as good as its counterpart. Would be sweet to overclock one of them. my 4850e could possibly get 3.5Ghz with around 1.45v, but fsb couldn't go higher.

Too much for the BE. You can get a 2.6GHz Quad core Phenom BE for $10 more on Newegg.

Ah, you mean the OEM one. Wouldn't buy that one if you were trying to overclock. :p

But, anyway, I firmly agree -- I was just basing this off the price of the other triple-core BE, which is $135.

AMD is all about enery efficiancy nowadays.

would be nice of them to release some notebook CPUs, intel has been ruling that market for a while now but a competitor to the Atom would be welcome also.

They have the low-watt sempron that's not all that bad (mostly because the chipset that Intel pairs with the Atom is horribly inefficient), though the chip size is huge comparied with the atom, I'm pretty sure.

Mandown,
The 5050e is a BE chip! AMD has changed the model numbers, starting with the 4850e and then the 5050e. The old BE models will stay the same until they are phased out or replaced.

Both the 4850e and the 5050e are very good overclockers as well. Couple them with a 780G motherboard with HD3200 on-board graphics an it rocks! About a 15% improvement in performance over the older socket AM2 motherboards! Cheap too! I just built a x2 4400+ on a $65 BioStar A780G M2+SE MB with 2GB of A-data 800MHz memory and it's barely slower than my 4800+ in an older tech aM2 motherboard. Almost 17,000 MIPS at 2.3GHz! makes an inexpensive HDMI or MediaCenter IGP solution. The MB can do full HD Video with as little as a 3200+ Sempron single core! Good Stuff!
