Asustek Computer, one of the world's largest producers of computer components, demonstrates its dual-chip Radeon X1600 XT graphics card at the Computex Taipei 2006 exhibition. Asus is among several companies who unveil this kind of products at the show, however, its positioning remains pretty unclear.
Asus EAX1600 XT Dual graphics card sports two Radeon X1600 XT graphics processors and uses proprietary print-circuit board, according to a picture published by OCWorkBench web-site. No actual details are known in regards and the product and it is also unclear whether Asus plans to sell it, however, similar graphics boards are showcased by GeCube and HIS manufacturers as well.
Earlier it was reported that HIS' dual-GPU Radeon X1600 XT graphics card will employ a special TLX bridge chip that will connect the chips between each other and the system. HIS Gemini Radeon X1600 XT board will sport two Radeon X1600 XT chips with 590MHz clock-speed, 256MB of 1380MHz GDDR3 memory per processor, two dual-link DVI outputs and so on. Asus graphics card features two dual-link DVI, two D-sub and video input/video output (VIVO) connectors. Additionally, Asus will supply a standalone power supply unit with the dual-chip board.
