ECS X58B-A Motherboard Pictured

Here's ECS with its X58 motherboard. Over the past month or two, motherboard manufacturers have been taking the opportunity of flashing their offering based on Intel's newest chipset, supporting the upcoming Core i7 Processors. Product launch dates for the processors itself had been see-sawing, with early estimates having pointed at an October launch, while other sections of the industry pointing at November 17, 2008 as D-day for Intel and its motherboard partners. Perhaps the November launch was chosen to give motherboard vendors some room to ready their products for the market that comes to be.

The ECS X58B-A is the company's X58 motherboard based on the Black-Series design, sporting a black PCB with yellow, red, orange and copper to form the design theme. It uses a rather simplistic layout, with two PCI-Express x16 slots, a close-ended PCI-Express x4 slot, and one PCI slot. It features a 5+1 phase power circuit for the CPU, and uses solid-state capacitors overall. The motherboard supports both ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technologies, it features six onboard SATA II ports with headers to two e-SATA ports, among other standard features. The X58B-A is expected to start shipping around the time Intel launches the Core i7 processors, it is expected to be priced at US $260.

Looks good and I like how the EPS12V plug is turned 90 degrees, should make it easier to fit your fingers between the CPU cooler and PSU. ECS is just something that isn't found here.

Hmmmm, I actually like the simplistic design...To start at $260 is actually not bad either IMO as that price will surely drop from there.

The board looks nice. Like the fact of where they placed the reset and power buttons. Not to big so no one really just pushes it by mistake also.. Very nice Look!

This looks like a big step up for ECS. I would love to see them getting more competitive in the motherboard market by putting out some quality products, that enthusiasts can have some fun with.

Yes, it's 4x. Look at the high-res image (second post), it's printed on the board

Thats the advantage of going intel, it will be cool if we can run 2 high end graphics (ATI + NVidia) working together and pushing fps (not just NV doing physics alone), so we don't need to stick to one side (atleast for VC).

Hope AMD comes with this kind of setup.

Meh. It's an ECS. I'll avoid it like the plague, personally. I made the mistake of buying one of their other enthusiasts boards once. The KA3-MVP. That thing had so much potential, but their BIOS team is about as useful at making a BIOS as a bunch of monkeys would be. Not to mention the ridiculously low amount of voltage options.

Meh. It's an ECS. I'll avoid it like the plague, personally. I made the mistake of buying one of their other enthusiasts boards once. The KA3-MVP. Thats true, my ECS is holding my 9500, the voltage in the bios is messed up and can't go higher. But rock solid stable.

Wile E, Im with you buddy. Never had anything but misery from ECS. No matter how flashy or appealing they try to make their newest products, the fundimental quality will still be the same, I'll stick to a brand that can make good products.

BTW; Im sure some of you are going to go "Thats bias, ECS are good' or 'Pew Pew Q Q dont knock ECS' and so on, just keep in mind that this is My experience from the ECS products ive had to deal with, if you still want to get defensive or flamy, go right ahead.

hmm so how many ECS boards did you have before you decided they are crap? Remember ECS might be making your 'So Called Brand name' boards

As long as ECS doesn't code the BIOS, I'm fine with that. lol.

look normal , my friend try ecs mobo before it was have a good performance but it is low quality mobo

That is real funny and painful truth. I was happy to see new bios for my ECS and downloaded and updated. Those mf removed the cpu volting options that was present in my original bios. Luckily I saved the bios so reverted back. They created a new section called some Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker, and in that those fuc..rs removed the cpu voltage. What good is that Black board? If its not stable and if its not my server I would have spitted and farted on it and threw it in the thrash.

Damn I need a Biostar or Asus to see how far my Cool running Phenom goes.

Yeah, I remember they actually removed CAS latency adjustment in a bios update on the KA3. CAS LATENCY!!!!! It wasn't a fluke either, the next 4 or 5 didn't have it either. I never checked beyond that, as I dumped the board. That's not necessarily even an OCing option, it's a necessity for some ram kits. :shadedshu

When I updated the previous version I noticed the same effect and reverted back. I emailed them about this and they said wait for the new bios and it should be fixed. Nope its not fixed. hmm I could have taken the free board! Oh well atleast it OCed to 240HTT.
