Benchmark Scores I don't bench, sorry.
That thing is NOT hospital safe. It was FAIL holes everywhere, from coffee to medicine to blood... there are just too many entry holes and easy to pull out plugs. e.g. power plug.

AND hospitals like to sterilise floors, so yes, a wall mounted PC might make sense. But are there wall mounts? No. Is that plug safe? No. Is that spill safe? No. Would it take the BASH of a hospital trolley? No.

Just in case there was any doubt,

Hey, I'm not saying they are the best choice for the hospitals, but they look exactly like the ones we have in the Umass hospitals in my county. And they are open and exposed too, and they aren't wall mounted, they just look to be smaller and neater than the Lenovo boxes they seem to be springing for. Those things have cables strewn all about with gunk all over the keyboard. I would take a picture for you (similarity to cheiftec case is astonishing) but I don't plan on doing to the hospital anytime soon :)

Comment not at you Analog. Just on the hospital suggestion - this thing is wholely inappropriate.

Do take a picture next time you are in hospital and see one of those things. We could start a new photo thread: DANGER! Not fit for purpose.

No. There is a design company out there that specialises in designing modern functional steel toilets. Their client went bust. Credit crunch, you know. So the factory closes down. Then they try and recycle the production line. Someone suggests drilling an extra hole for a PSU, and BOBS YOUR UNCLE, you get a PC case.

Its equally as prone to spills as my antec 1200 I don't see the problem there just don't use it as a water bottle. Also it doesn't have speakers so it kinda isn't a all in one.

TPU should never eliminate news posts like this. It is the heart and soul of the site to let us know what is new in the industry.

It is not the news post that creates epic posts and lulz, but the product.

That being said, I still think this product is basically stoneage.

Reminds me of a Packard Bell... where they put the monitor onto the computer. You are all being too critical though. It is stupid, but try to explain it in elegant words. Don't just post fail pictures.

It looks like somebody put a monitor on a coffee machine.

The key here is; just because you can doesn't mean you should...

wow I cant believe how much hate this case gets..I think it has possibilities and on my small desk it would be cool to have the extra space.

Not to mention its 1/6 the cost of the $600 ABS monstrosity.

Maybe it's cuz the case is ugly and the idea could've been implemented much better? :p

Actually, now I want to see how you would make an "all-in-one" because that would probably be friggin' awesome! :rockout:

It doesn't look too great on the cooling end of things but, I've seen worse. I see it as an alternative to laptops or laptop derivatives where weight isn't a concern and maintenance costs are. It would be much cheaper to replace dead components in that case than having to deal with a service request for a laptop. It has a niche but I think that niche is pretty small.

Why do I get the feeling that this thread is full of absent minded people who just bash something without even considering its qualities?

I'm surprised something like this gets all the comments when something more important to discuss; i.e. Rambus suing Nvidia, or Segate's 1.5TB drive schmozzle. Geez guys, GROW UP! Its just a company making a product that "sucks".

has tpu had an IQ drop across the whole forum?

Finally someone who has some decency to not join the hate bandwagon. It seems that the first opinion is the main opinion throughout the rest of the thread...

WOW! That was rather unnecessary dude. People want to be more vocal about this thread that's fine. I couldn't give a rats if Seagate released a 1.5TB drive, woopy! I don't understand your 'grow up' attitude. If you read Lemonade's comments he really does have a point, if you don't find his comic take on words funny (or anyone else's comments) then refrain from posting if the thread doesn't tickle your fancy.

Obviously the design flaws in this product are so bad at lot of people want to stress that, yeah, so it sucks. Could be that a forum member is a buyer for a company and they need a unit like this, but don't really have an opinion this thread might actually give them a decent insight with some comic relief. Not saying all posts in this thread are helpful, but not all threads are perfect.

Interesting subtext

perhaps this case doesn't actually exist other than as an engineering mock up - if you were going to do market research on whether a case like this would be practical, then posting it on a site like this, with such lively and informed discussion is what I'd do. I could then trawl through the comments (removing the amusing FAILs) and then present it as my own work...

So, there does exist a market for an all-in-one, and it would seem to make better sense to use upgradeable desktop components than non-upgradeable laptop parts, but over all, it's got to look cool (and have speakers, web cam, mic, multi-touch screen, ipod dock, beverage holder, usb missile launcher)...

That enough for you Chieftec?

I took a further look and dont think the design is flawed, if you added another fan on the right side that would improve cooling. I do wonder wht the mobo is mounted like that (GPUs on top instead of GPUs on the bottom. I would definitely like to see one in person

There is room for long GPUs, Bulge allows air intake or taller coolers

there is a big space behind my monitor this case would fill just fine

Air moving from right to left is good instead of air blowing at the wall

The cost is well within reason (especially for such a different basic design)

I like the Face (where the DVD and power buttons mount) I wonder if speakers could be mounted in it, that would clear even more desk space and eliminate more un needed wiring.

How can so many be wrong? "Its not so much right or wrong" its just someones opinion.

while I dont agree with the IQ drop thing..I notice its very similar on the web,, when someone bashes something a lot of people start spreading it around, Silenx fans come to mind.

That happens a lot when you have a younger audience
