Amidst lot of speculation concerning its possibility, HIS indeed has an IceQ4+ model graphics card based on the ATI Radeon HD 4870. It uses the iconic IceQ4+ cooler, and 1 GB of GDDR5 memory. The card is overclocked out of the box, with the core clocked at 770 MHz, and memory at 1000 MHz (effectively 2 GHz DDR or 4000 MT/s). The card uses a blue-coloured AMD reference PCB (includes the AMD brand mark on the PCB), with an identical layout of components as that on the reference design cards.

The advantage however, lies in its cooler. The card supports ATI CrossFireX, and sports two dual-link DVI ports for output. It requires two 6 pin PCI-Express power connectors. There are two basic sub-variants: IceQ4+ Turbo 512MB and IceQ4+ Turbo 1GB. The 512 MB model has a higher core clock speed at 780 MHz. The non-Turbo sub-variants use reference AMD clock speeds.

Pricing is as follows:
  • HIS HD 4870 IceQ4+ 512MB PCIe - 239,00 €
  • HIS HD 4870 IceQ4+ TURBO 512MB PCIe - 249,00 €
  • HIS HD 4870 IceQ4+ 1 GB PCIe - 259,00 €
  • HIS HD 4870 IceQ4+ TURBO 1 GB PCIe - 279,00 €

HIS also announced its availability through retail channels.

seems like they've thickened the gauge of those heatpipes to proper 8mm ones which are far more superior.

Wonder if they went with all copper or copper aluminum or just copper painted aluminum.

Painted anodized aluminum. They wouldn't have been able to sell a card with that much copper in that price range otherwise.

the normal iceq4 has aluminium base and heatpipes. copper base and heatpipes (that seem to be 8mm) wouldnt be too much copper, but would immensely increase the performance. shame on his for using reference AMD design

they run the memory at 1000mhz so why they can go over 770 in gpu , did that mean that heat sink can't do good cooling when gpu run at 800mhz

Ive always had a soft spot for HiS cards.

shame the only main distro agents here in the UK are Online ones. such as Scan & overclockers (but overclockers suck....)

thats my new favourite 4870, man why cant all 4870s come with this cooler
the iceQ version of the 4850 is the best 4850 if this 4870 isnt the best its gonna be one of the best
plus i reckon that card would be mighty lot cooler and quieter than the stock ones

wish i hadnt bought this gtx260 now :shadedshu

yes, seems good but the his 4850s iceq4 had their own pcb design, which increased oc and decreased power consumptin. look at palit's sonic 4850: with those cards you will get not only good temps thanks to the cooler, but a hell of an overclock because they use a good pcb design and quality components. his should have gone this way

cool looking card but i would've preferred a red PCB and cooler. Is this a reference or a non-reference design, BTW? it seems like reference to me but who knows.

I can't get past 960Mhz, must be a decent cooler to keep it at 1Ghz...
Also don't they usually have gold plated DVI?
