Over 400,000 Unlocked IPhones Activated in China

Despite much talk, Apple is currently "dead in the water" as far as negotiations with Chinese telecommunications companies go. However, Apple doesn't appear to need to be concerned: over one million iPhones have been sold in China so far. However, the clever people who live in China have a different idea than go along with corporate policy. A telecommunications company in China reported that over 400,000 iPhones, unlocked, have been activated and put onto their service. Considering that there are roughly one million iPhones in China, this means that two out of every five iPhone customers is likely to unlock theirs. What's really impressive about this is that the Chinese are still unlocking their iPhones despite many attempts to "brick" iPhones through firmware updates.

Does apple also know that there is a 'fake' version of the iphone available in china? some of which have been/was on ebay for a short period of time before obvious enforcements of copyright were put into action....

I think Apple will be surprised to learn that even "1 million" iPhones have been manufactured. With shortage of supplies... we now learn that one too many have been falling off the production line... and into the local china supply chain. LOL.

hey those iphone clones rawk, apperently from the model ive read about, they are more customisable then the origional, u dont have to unlock them and they have better performing hardware (i cant comment about their component quality tho)

so were is the problem with the unlocking? If I buy a phone I can do what I want with this phone, it's simple my propriety, I pay for that phone.

Not really. . . . Someone once told me that we just rent in this lifetime, we dont really own anything. Apple make sure of this via terms and conditions with the occassional firmware update.

I wouldnt mind knowing how many iphones are in China NOW, and how many of them are unlocked.

probably a lot, its sad because mostly everything is made in china or what happens is one part gets made or patented in china and that's all it takes in order to get a fake item or ripoff item on the market.
