A website has emerged campaigning for Microsoft to step up development of Windows 7 and launch it earlier than planned. The beta released in the last month has created much excitement across the tech world, and many people are eager for the release of Microsoft's new OS, currently slated for Q4 2009 to Q1 2010. Many websites are posting positive reviews of the public beta, a reason behind this movement. The founder of the site, Kelly Poe has said,
I'm a BIG Windows fan and have been loving what Microsoft has done with the recent Beta Release of Windows 7. There have been so many great reviews from people like Leo Laporte (twit.tv, TWIT Podcast) and Paul Thurrott (www.winsupersite.com, Windows Weekly podcast), needless to say I'm jones'n for the release of Windows 7.

So here we are...let's join together and get Microsoft to release Windows 7...enough with this Beta stuff...release it already!!! Let the beautiful little birdy (with the odd name) fly!!!

At the time of writing the site had a backing of 646 votes, which was constantly growing. You can find the website and join the campaign at releasewindows7.com

NO!
This is the WORST thing they can possibly do!
EVER!
Just think what will happen if they release it early and we have another driver nightmare!
I say release it once there are enough well made drivers for it; the manufacturers better get off their asses this time.

All the Vista drivers seem to work fine on all my stuff. And NVIDIA already have released a WHQL for Windows 7 :D

They better not release it prematurely if they are not finished but if they don't actualy plan on adding anything on then why not.

OMG, let them get it 100% done. I've been running 7 for the past 3 weeks or so. I do like it. It does seem to be stable. Vista drivers are working for it. But I'm in no real hurry to have to spend money to have it. Let microsoft get it 100% ready for release, then I'll go buy it. Don't rush them though.

NO! this is what happened with Vista. A lot of stuff had to be pulled because people were demanding it be released. Why must we repeat that mistake?

Windows 7 is not ready for mass consumption, not quite yet. I'd rather it was released when it's ready and I have to wait and use Vista for a while longer.

If it's really this good so far, I'd have to agree. No reason to rush it if you want it to be good. If they can iron more bugs out maybe the OS can be secure and stable without a service pack, I know with Vista many refused to buy before one came out, and then they can be ready for launch related problems..... launching an OS for the largest OS making company in the world can't be simple or straightforward.

Hopefully it's as good as these people claim, but that MS uses the time before launch to really polish their product.

Windows 7 is good. I'm using it on rig 3 in my sig and it works phenomenally well (can barely get Vista working as smooth without tweaks), but it still has stuff that needs ironing out, and I'd rather they were 100% happy with it before releasing than releasing now just because people are too impatient.

Its like a Heavily modified version of Vista. It should do fine released early.

The idiot who is trying to get Windows 7 released early can wait. If you like what you see now, it will be much better after they fix all the bugs etc. If we wait, it will be GREAT.

IF she wants so badly, then she can use the beta!

Yeah really lol... I have annoy bug with it were it will not reinstall ATI drivers correctly. It is good but i can wait for sure. They need to wait as company's need to get the Win 7 drivers beta tested and up too and they should be doing it now and not when it's released so people can find as many bug as possible.

Exactly. Rushing it to market will only lead to a poor product in the end. Let them do things right.

I say release it once there are enough well made drivers for it; the manufacturers better get off their asses this time.

The driver issue shouldn't be nearly as bad this time around. The transition from XP to Vista was a major change for drivers, the transition from Vista to Windows 7 shouldn't be a problem at all. Most drivers from Vista should actualy work in Windows 7 natively.

I want to create a similar site:
www.releasewindows7whenitsdone.com

lol that's exactly what I was thinking about... First of all Windows 7 may be good, but it's not much better than the actual updated Vista. Let them do a bit more tweaking, a bit more ressource sparing and bugfixing and windows 7 will be an awesome OS. Don't let them make the same mistakes they did with earlier versions. The first release of Win98 for example was very instable. Even XP had no good reputation before they released the first service pack. They should not add new shiny features anymore, they should just get it stable and fast. Even though it might just become a good Vista 1.5

Yeah. They should at least release a few more betas before going for the release. Windows 7 is good though there's some stupid issues where by it prompts you to shut down some programs. Though it's good, the feature is kinda jammed when you click cancel.

Windows7 and Vista's driver model is exactly the same. If it works in Vista, it works in Windows7 -- for the simple reason that the code is exactly the same and hasn't been changed.

Windows7's optimalizations are done in a different area.

Am I the only one who can't get used to the new taskbar and can't use it?

I am a programmer and have multiple windows open all the time, it's the most confusing thing ever.

How they can combine the starting of an app and displaying running programs in the same button is beyond me. I found you can shift left click to start a new app but it still is hard to get used to.
