Corsair Launches the Dominator GT Family

Corsair, a worldwide leader in high-performance computer and flash memory products, today announced the launch of the new Dominator GT line of ultra high-performance DDR3 memory modules for Intel Core i7-based systems.

Sporting a new racing red color scheme and the next-generation of Corsair's patent-pending Dual-path Heat eXchange (DHX) technology, the new Dominator GT comes in 3-up 6GB kit, running at 2000MHz with latencies of 7-8-7.

The next-generation DHX technology includes a single-piece heat-sink and removable cooling fins. The removable fins allow multiple cooling options for the Dominator GT modules, including water cooling, as well as a custom-designed thermoelectric cooling system to actively cool the modules to as low as 20°C below ambient temperature for maximum overclockability.

In addition to the 1866C7 Dominator GT, Corsair will be offering very limited quantities of hand-screened, hand-tuned, extreme performance modules in both 3GB and 6GB kits. These kits are specifically designed to allow hardcore overclockers to push the limits of PC performance and are built with the fastest chips available. Because of the complexity in screening, manufacturing and testing, the Dominator GT family will be available only through the exclusive online GT Performance Shop at corsair.com, where Corsair will offer also offer the full range of cooling options for the Dominator GT family.

Seems places are saying these will run at 2000 MHz with 7-8-7-20 timings @ 1.65v. That seems a little hard to believe, usually you get one or the other at those volts, speed or timings... There is a OCZ set that does 7-6-6-24 at 2000mhz but those use 1.9v to do it.

Looks good from far, but far from good.

Anyone else notice how this cooler only supports 5 module slots and not the 6 that we would be using ? Did Corsair pick up on that ? Or was it the camera man. Either way, the 3 modules were moved from DIMM slot 1, 3 & 5 to 2, 4 & 6 for the photo's above.

They do look good however . . . And the watercooling would sure help a lot around here. Especially yesturday when Melbourne reached its record high temperature of 47 Degrees @ 3pm.

I wonder if Corsair sells these in packs of 5. . .

Translation: Because of our need to gouge our customers the GT family will only be available through our newly opened online shop at corsair.com.

When you buy $500 RAM from Corsair and it dies in a year (which happens to even the best) you will not get $500 RAM in return. You won't even get $400 or even $200 quality RAM. Instead you will get some garbage Qimonda that other manufacturers sell as value RAM. It happened to me twice and the kits they sent back barely run spec.

I used to be a Corsair faithful but not anymore.
