Just find a proxy server to convince teh internets that you are in china (there must be loads working the other way around given how much is banned) and its all the free music you could want :roll:

That's the point. The country with the worst piracy gets the free music, because no one will pay for it anyway.

It's not about money -- it's about control. Music companies/governments/recording organizations don't really care that they're losing profit (though of course they're not happy about it) -- much more important to them is that piracy causes them to lose control over what kind of music you're listening to.

If they can get everybody downloading from this site, and being used to downloading from this site, then they can gain back that control.

It also says to me if we can have setup with google in China and have the record industries approval then they can clearly do similar stuff in other markets surely.

Oh, they certainly will -- but not until fighting it tooth-and-nail, first. There's far more people still buying CD's in Western countries than there ever was in China, which I don't think really ever had much of a market of non-pirated... anything. :laugh:
