Kingston Technology First to Release 12GB Triple-Channel DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz

What I've read is that the chips used in 4GB unbuffered sticks are still quite expensive. Until they can get the costs down, the jump is going to be huge.

A 3 x 4GB set of Crucial Registered/ECC DDR3 goes for about $350, for comparison.

no shit lol, $1400 that's one hell of a system, i really don't see these selling like at all except for all the bill gates' sons out there buyin it up. I can't really see these overclocking exceptionally either with that much memory.

For that money you can buy a competent second computer and network them and have one do some gruntwork while you use the other.
Or buy a server type mobo that has enough RAM slots to get to 12MB for much less, and has place for 2 CPU's so you also have 8 or even 16 cores, and you might still save money compared to this.
