Noctua today presented two new additions to its DX series of quiet Intel Xeon CPU coolers: Now compatible with Intel's latest LGA1366 based Xeon 5500 (Nehalem EP) processors, the new NH-U12DX 1366 and NH-U9DX 1366 are true drop-in replacements for standard Intel coolers and make it easier than ever before to significantly reduce the noise emission of high-end workstations and severs.

Are those just Noctua 'stock' photos? I think I remember those exact photos the last time they annouced new coolers. The mounting pin arrangement seems to be different than what you'll find on an Xeon 5500 board.

No i'm not serious, its a little joke, and i dont get the color either, i get the, noctua is good!
Theese are prolly lower than a thermalright and perhaps cools even better

Color issues

Yes, we get it. Your fans are freaking awesome. If they are on CPU coolers or the case, they blow a lot of air and are near silent. We also get that your company color is Brown and white.

Please, please, we beg you, stop making tan and rust brown colored fans. Put your brown/white logo on the fan blade(s). Just please give us all some color options. I use your fans in closed cases only because the colors don't match ANYTHING.

Noctua is about as high quality as they come and Arctic cooler as much as I love them cannot come close to these cpu coolers and in some cases they beat Thermalright Trues. I have owned all three companies stuff and quality wise Noctua is the best, then Thermalright, then Arctic cooler . Thermalright might be one or two degrees better but not always and their mounting system is nowhere as good. If we are talking VGA cooling Thermalright is king most of the time with Arctic cooler beating them with some models.

In the USA, huh? Only a fellow American would say such a thing. This world.. far outweighs the United States, with all due to respect to the president I voted for.

You understand me as well as the term "silent." Silent, means that it cannot be heard. It means that if you stick it in your case and close it, you will hear nothing outside of the case that you did not hear when it was empty. That, or something very close to it, is what Arctic Cooling have given me in the past.

The free market exists solely so that two competitors can rule above the rest. There are those, god bless their souls, who will buy products that are not the best value, keeping many companies in existence. Truth be told, to the consumer, no companies matter. To us, two to five are good. But to the market.. two always rule, in technicality.

Oh, don't embarrass yourself. Saying that temperatures don't matter as much as mounting systems is like saying that Stream Pipes don't matter as much as the amount of physical memory. Canny business no doubt them mounting systems, but they ain't what anyone cares about.

That's terribly adorable. Yes, we all wish Noctua would get some of their stuff sold too. But, companies have to show merit to have their products sold. That, or they have to make the better products.
But, I value Noctua. Just like I value Scythe. They both have their own.. artistic, if you will, thing going on. Noctua's is a singular and unpopular color mix for all their products. But, I have a Noctua fan.. it's unique. Perhaps.. that is what these companies are going for. We all know.. it has a place.

You are incorrect Noctua matches or exceeds a Thermalright Ultra extreme 120 when both are under heavy voltage and a Scythe is nowhere near the quality of Noctua cooler. Scythe is a good budget cooler Noctua is famous for near silent fans and ultra high quality heatsinks and are Thermalrights number one competitor. Thermalright and Noctua are on par with each other and in the case of the TRUE cooler noctua has a much better mounting system. Read some reviews, I can find several where Noctua beats the TRUE or matches it. I loved my TRUE Black. It was a beast but was 3 mm taller than my Noctua which performs exactly the same but allows my side case fan to be mounted. Other than that it would still be in my case. However, I lost zero performance going to a Noctua and it's almost dead silent.

Never thought I'd see it, but a CPU cooler fanboy. You should read some reviews on their fan, I think its the NF-P12. Its got specially designed fanblades that work in such a way to drop the frequency of the noise away from a high pitch fan noise to a low hum. Its apparently sought after for its high static pressure as well. I keep looking to buy a used Noctua fan and cooler myself but have to find one available in Canada. I'd gladly replace my again Zalman with it.

Fanboy Fun

I am not a fan of Noctua. I have bought only two of their fans. They were both the quietest and ugliest fans I have ever put in a case. I have a Ultra Aluminus Case with a huge see through side panel so no go for me.
