ASUS seems to be just about ready with a full-fledged lineup of motherboards based on the Intel P55 chipset, that supports LGA-1156 socket CPUs. The newest entry in the company's P7P55 series is the high-end P7P55D Deluxe. The model is placed above the P7P55 EVO and P7P55 Pro, which descend in the same order in the lineup. The P7P55D stands apart with some high-grade components and overclocker-friendly features. The CPU is powered by a lavish 19-phase digital PWM circuit, cooled by chunkier heatsinks that distribute heat among each other using a heatpipe.

The four memory slots supporting dual-channel DDR3 memory are powered by a 4-phase circuit. The user is given greater control of voltages and clock speeds using the TurboV technology. This board even bundles a pop-out wired remote that provides some on-the-fly controls. The expansion slot layout is identical to that of the P7P55 EVO, with three PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots (two of which are electrically x8 when populated, and one is electrical x4). The P55 chipset provides six SATA II ports, while external controllers give out three additional ports. Connectivity and other expansion options include two gigabit Ethernet controllers, over a dozen USB 2.0 ports, Firewire, and audio with digital output. The P7P55D Deluxe could feature in the first wave of P55 motherboards released by ASUS.

Companies sure have a lot riding on the succces of LGA-1566. Intel pushing back the release meant that everyone has multiple makes of P55 motherboards. Core i5 needs some really positive reviews to get them all sold.

For customer this is however great. CPUs are ready, motherboards are ready and DDR3 has been around a while, plenty of everything for everyone. Just pick your poison and you're ready to rock.

And nice looking motherboard.

19 phase pwm circuit  and wheres the bloody cooling ? like them crappy heatsinks are going to be sufficient. Thing is where are these ging to sit price wise? i can see that being as expensive as the x58 boards, would you spend the money to go p55 when you could have x58 ? maybe thats why intel are phasing out the 920, to create more of a price gap between x58 and p55?

Yeh it will be close to the 920 but not long after these come out there will be new socket 1366 CPUs that will edge ahead. Same old Intel fun and games.

What is it with ASUS and the one-sided DIMM slots lately? I noticed them on a Rampage II GENE build I did a few weeks back too... I guess they're kinda cool, but honestly I see them as failure waiting to happen for machines shipped across the country -.-'

Dig the big-ass PCI-E clips though, plus the heatpipe through the PWR cooling oughta help, or at least look damn slick. GLHF ASUS. Keep the price reasonable and you've got a winner IMO...

Better clearance for the 1st Pci-e slot, makes it easier to remove memory without removing the Vidcard, explained here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNytsrgQwmg&feature=channel

Are they Volterras? Those things do get hot, but sure 19 of them don't heat up anymore?

First boards with digital PWM had like 5 phases, VGA nForce 790i SLI FTW has 8 Volterras and this should be half the heat then?

I got the Pro from a bundle that was on sale for real cheap. Very happy for the price. I hope they make more like this (hopefully with a little better SLI support)
