Designed to complement any home's motif, Sony today unveiled the VAIO N Series notebook computer line featuring cool colors, smooth lines and a simple sense of style for people who want to balance form with function. Available in three colors: Wenge brown -a creamy, coffee-color made to resemble wood furniture; black for an elegant contemporary look; and white for a light, airy feeling, the VAIO N Series is designed to reflect different lifestyles and home decors.

According to Mike Abary, vice president of VAIO product marketing for Sony Electronics, the N Series was conceived with the "culturally creative" individual in mind, who is focused on an "organic lifestyle."

"From the furniture you sit on to the artwork you hang on your walls, you coordinate every aspect of your home's style so why hide your PC?" Mike Abary said. "These new notebooks are designed to accent your interior design, as well as your life."

More than just a pretty face, the N Series packs an Intel Core Duo processor (on select models) and a roomy hard drive so you have all the computing power you need. The new VAIO model is Windows Vista capable and select models are Windows Vista Premium ready.

Engineered for an exceptional viewing experience, the N Series features a 15.4-inch (measured diagonally) widescreen display with Sony's original XBRITE-ECO LCD technology, so you can enjoy photos and videos in brilliant color and stunning clarity.

Fashion Meets Fun
Whether surfing the Web or enjoying music or movies, the VAIO N Series has the essentials to do it all. With DVgate Plus software and an on-board DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/DVD-RAM burner, you can edit and share home movies with friends and family - even create customized DVDs complete with interactive menus and themes.

Digital photos have never been easier to view, edit or share as well. The N series comes with a suite of software applications, making it easy to import, view and catalog digital images. Simply transfer photos from your digital camera using one of a number of import options, including two USB 2.0 ports, ExpressCard, i.LINK or Memory Stick media, and then organize them into an album, slideshow or print.

You can also enjoy a wireless computing experience whether at home or on the road. The PC's built-in 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN lets you wirelessly connect to your home network or find any local hotspot at an airport, hotel or cafe for quick and easy access to the Internet and your e-mail. (The access point connection may require additional fee.)

The VAIO N Series notebook line will be available early next month for about $1,000 at authorized retailers nationwide, online at sonystyle.com and at Sony Style stores (for locations visit www.sonystyle.com/retail) in select fashion malls around the country. Pre-orders begin online today at www.sony.com.

Yes because the same same factory that makes complicated chemical batteries also puts together PCs... :nutkick:

Looks like a nice competitor for the Apple's to me, it's about time they had some competition.

sony is still trying to go into the pc market using name brand recongnition to justify the much higher prices for its systems and laptops while offering less value for money
