Radeon HD 5870 1 GB Gets First Listing

I can't get myself to buy anymore PC hardware.

I completely understand you there. But like, i'm just not sure how i feel about bleeding edge tech anymore, as far as cost and longevity goes. That said... this was the generation i was going to buy into...

I'm quite astounded to see so many comments regard to physical appearance of the card...

Am I just crazy but WhThFk CARES what it LOOKS like?!?!?

It's not a HAT you stupid asses - it's a VIDEO PROCESSOR , it goes INSIDE the black box on your desk and nobody, not even you, sees it ever again.

Personally I'd care far more what its FPS : DOLLARS ratio is & cant see how what it looks like has anything at all to do with that.

But perhaps I'm just the stupid one.

Just what i was thinking... Although Sapphire support really sucks i keep hearing more than ASUS's does so.

I'll stick with XFX for now at least they been more than useful.

I really dont care about that :P

I send my product where i bought it, 2 days till it comes there, 1 day test time, 2 days back.

Asus own support used 6 weeks per rma as comparison.

WDC direct uses 3 weeks, from CANADA to norway.

We have the great law, if a shop sold you it, they do the service, no matter what, you should only commit to dealing with the retailer/e-tailer.
It's the best law there is ever, No issues with companies with bad rma.

Sapphire has one of the lowest RMA rates, wouldnt say thats bad quality.

Surely if you buy the latest card, you want it to look good with the rest of your PC through the clear perspex side panel that you just cut to show off your PC's innards :rockout: Plain black boxes are so 90's :p

That is SOOO 2001.

they might look okey, but people are way to concerned about looks inside the computer, and most of them fail to actually place cables right.

Plain black boxes didnt exist for the better part of the 90's.

Hey boys, dont worry what it look like coz that isnt a retail card its a sample so dont get your knickers in a twist the real ones will look so sexy you prolly get erection.!!!

Ima gonna get one but i prolly wait for a price drop. Shops are gonna screw the consumer because windows 7 is coming out and people want DX11 so prices will be higher than 4870 especially if you dont live in the US. We always get shafted with new tech.

Why do i think i'm gonna get raped on launch price :(

Its not to much hassle for me, if it comes out too expensive I wait til the price drops.

I'm quite happy with the HD3850 I bought from moonpig for the moment, can't run everything maxed out but it can play fear maxed out which is fun XD

I need to gather up all the stuff I can sell (a lot)..... 5870 time is close....

It was somehow assumed that the HD 5870 1Gb MSRP would be 350$ , but it's 399$ , meh. And 2gb being 449

I'm actually still gunning for 350 usd.

Shops will try and murk people the first week or so though.

Looking at the 5 series for my new GFX. I want to buy 2 though for Crossfire. Might see what the 5 series midrange is like. That seems alot for ATi

We could boycot the price worldwide by not buying until they drop it down :p. Like that will work:D

Ahh bugger it, decided I'm waiting for the price to drop.

Its not worth being on the bleeding edge of technology, it progresses to fast!

Will grab one of these when they hit about the 200 pound mark.

Well in this part of America they don't do that and yes it is a good thing that you have it there.

I'm not talking about Quality most card are they same that any other company gets.

The 870 looks horrible!

I had a look and found there are several sites with different pictures of this , some blured out , some censored like this , but what do they have to hide , even without the number i figured out it's sapphire.

The first is , the blured out picture you can , but really hardly see Sapphire , the S , pp , an e are seen quite well if you look hard.

And also from this image , the censoring line does not cover the whole word , the bottom tips of " pp " are visible. So that's definately sapphire if it would not be known , of course , thank google cache.

Geeks and PC hardware are like battered wives. We know it ain't good for us but we keep going back for more.

I'm going to get it and to be honest I don't think its a bad price i expected it to be more than that. Anyone want to buy my 4 month old 4890
