Both the latest games and 3D applications have stricter requirement on the graphic performance than before and the integrated graphics solution is not powerful enough. AXLE GeForce GT 220 packs 48 processing cores into a compact power efficient design delivering up to 30x the performance* of Intel integrated solutions.

Get all the video processing power that your digital lifestyle requires. Clean up home video 4x faster and post it on Facebook with the AXLE GeForce GT 220 or GeForce 210. Convert your video and put it on your iPod in minutes instead of hours or make your DVDs look like HD. AXLE GeForce GT220 and GeForce 210 can playback any Blu Ray Movie with any modern CPU.

Graphics processing units (GPUs) are an essential element of today's PCs, enabling more visual and more interactive experiences. As a leader in visual computing and the inventor of the GeForce GPU, NVIDIA worked closely with Microsoft on the development of Windows 7 to ensure that its GPUs take full advantage of the great new features and functionality. If you use your PC to enhance photos, watch or edit videos, play games, or if you simply desire a fast and efficient graphical interface, AXLE GeForce GT220 and GeForce 210 offers a premium experience with Windows 7.

Applying the new 40nm GPU technology from NVIDIA , AXLE GeForce GT 220 and AXLE GeForce 210 deliver a more advanced level of performance than the predecessors 9500GT and 8400GS. In terms of the number of shaders, GT220 has 50% more than that of 9500GT whereas G210 has 100% more than that of 8400GS. AXLE GeForce GT 220 comes with 2 versions of memory, 128-bit 1.6GHz DDR3 memory and 800MHz DDR2 memory. The card features NVIDIA Unified Architecture, NVIDIA CUDA technology, Microsoft Windows 7 support, NVIDIA PureVideo HD and NVIDIA PhysX technologies, HDMI ouput with HD 1080p display support, PCI Express 2.0 support and Microsoft DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 support.

AXLE GeForce 210, on the other hand, is assembled with 64-bit 1.2GHz DDR3 memory or 800 MHZ DDR2 memory. The additional features embrace NVIDIA Unified Architecture, NVIDIA CUDA Parallel Computing Architecture, NVIDIA PureVideo HD and NVIDIA PhysX technologies, HDMI output with HD 1080p display support, Microsoft DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 support and PCI Express 2.0 support.

The G210's fan is identical to the Palit GT 220's...

ATI launches HD5xxx series and pulverized current games (except Crysis) and as a response Nvidia brings GT 220 and GeForce 210. They are good for what king of gaming? 2D browser games or solitaire perhaps?

I like the cooling :D especially on that Axle's GT220 (GT216). And it's going to be a nice performing chip with dx10.1 support and 48 processing units @40nm.

With it's 48shaders 16TMUs and 8 ROPs @620MHz (stock) it'll have half of texturing power of the older 9600GT and 50% of shading power cause shader cores run only @1360MHz!! i don't know any other reason why they specifically lower them but not to directly compete with now rather old (more than 18month) 9600GT (G94) which has stock shaders @1800MHz which gives it 77% more shader power and it's on 65nm whic is more somewhat 3x larger node than 40nm. So if they use same amount of transistors, G94 has 505mil vs GT216 486mil, meant that this should be three times smaller chip!! And it still uses up to 58W TDP (according to nVidia's Specifications), which is poor if you ask me to any ATi solution like way old HD4670 (@2x bigger 55nm node) that have roughly same performance as 9600GT and wa direct competitor.

screenshot of GT220 Specification [01Nov2009]

In terms of the number of shaders, GT220 has 50% more than that of 9500GT whereas G210 has 100% more than that of 8400GS.

But what a heck is with your specs 8400GS has the same amount of 16 shaders, same 8 TMU and same 4 ROPs, just as G210 has :wtf: The only difference is 8400GS (G86) stock clock @450MHz vs G210 (GT218) which works @589MHz or 31% faster, and latter support dx10.1 and might came with system ddr3 memory like this one (1200MHz ddr3) while 8400GS came with ddr2-800 or worse in some cases.

We all don't seek for the emperor of the gaming cards but according to nVidia's own spec 58W for 40nm budget card is simply too much when somwhat twice better old HD4670 consumes only 50W in 3D or up to 61W in FurMark. So in fact accoding to TDP nViida hasn't really nothing to offer. Ofc if they release updated specs for up to 30W or less it might be considered cause until Redwood (RV810) and what a heck is name for RV830 ATi hasnt anything to offer with some reasonable performance and 20-30W TDP.

And looking at nVidias specification page for GeForce 210 is also power hog with 30.3W TDP declared. While it should be 10-12W HTPC card if anyone want to buy it.
