not really nvidia's fault that they're putting these out, its not like the company can really do anything else. Once you have a plan and you set it in motion, its going to cost shitloads more to stop it than let it continue because R&D is expensive.

In the end this is just really all for revenue raising, though not many will buy it, some will, providing nvidia and their AIBs with a tiny trickle of revenue.

I would have very much preferred nvidia to rebadge the 9800GT to a GTS240, because its by far the most used card (if counting other G92 variants).

This card reminds me of AMD's HD2600 series... new tech, fabrication process, but inferior to the previous generation in the same price bracket.

GT250 = fully enabled G92, aka 9800GTX, or 8800GTS 512MB.

would have made more sense if the 9800GT was rebadged as a GT240, rather than grabbing an already crippled G94 core and crippling it even more with DX10.1 on top, not really helping.

Dx10.1 doesnt even benefit nvidia that much, but when they conceived the plan for this GT240 i'm assuming they would have had the design at a higher clockspeed and perf levels in mind, probably exceeding that of a 9800GT, but due to the poor yields for nvidia everything was dialed back. As i said you cant bail out because R&D costs mean that a company would spiral into a deficit without income and it takes years.

GTS250 is actually a rebranded semi upgraded g92b which is the 55nm variant aka 9800GTX+.

That being said, the point remains the naming scheme is ridiculous.

As for the comment about having a half brain and buying a ATI card, um the only ATI card i am looking forward to buying is a 5670 when it shows up for my secondary rig, and i am giving away my Sapphire 4670 to a friend, and buying in replace a HIS ICE Q 4670. Well i am finally picking up my dual core next weekend to replace my single core machine, and as i said before i want 2-3 cards per computer. For the Dual core, i am keeping my 9800GT(Which is really really powerful i notice ) and buying a HIS ICE Q4670(to replace the Sapphire 4670). For my Secondary rig , which i plan to use Win 7 x64( 8GB of ram ) , i am going to buy a 5670 and a GT240.

Why buy a card that is weaker then something else? Doesn't matter, each card is different and besides i like to buy video cards. Hell i was about to buy a GT210 and a GTS250 last night haha, but had to control myself haha.
