Apple has updated the entire MacBook Pro line of notebooks, which now supports the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor and delivers performance that is up to 39 percent faster than the previous generation. All MacBook Pro models now offer greater storage capacity up to 200GB and double the memory up to 3GB of 667MHz DDR2. And now every MacBook Pro boasts both a FireWire 800 port and a double-layer burning SuperDrive. Both MacBook Pros feature an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 mobile GPU (128MB on the 2.16GHz models, 256MB on the 2.33GHz models), AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, GbE, ExpressCard/34 slot, illuminated keyboard, integrated iSight camera, Front Row and Apple Remote and a MagSafe power connector. Apple MacBook Pro with a 2.16GHz or 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 15- or 17-inch is available now starting at $1999.

finally...been waiting a long time...too bad they did not upgrade the graphic card to a X1700 and 256MB in every model. Guess I will go with a 14 inch Asus with 1440x900, 2.0Ghz core 2 duo, 2GB memory, 120GB HDD, Geforce 7700 512MB for 1699€ instead of paying 2000€s for something like that.

Man I wish Apple did not have such a price premium, or at least had better graphic cards in their systems. X1600 128MB is really nothing to play Gothic 3 with...especially considering the resolutions these Laptops have.

I really wanted to grab an apple. But might as well grab an Asus + a mac mini...comes out to the same.

cheers

Extremely late on Core2's, no design changes, no 7200rpm drive option in anything but 17", poor graphics card. Cmon Apple, I was so looking foward to these. After all this time waiting, they swapped a CPU.

And yet people will more then willingly pay for these...Especially with Apples clearly showing that it could care less about its reputation and the customer.

Unfortunately, they provide arguably the best consumer OS on the market.

WE NEED SOME MAC VS PC BENCHMARKS!

some one get one of these laptops and get a similar pc laptop conterpart.

install bootcamp/windows on the mac and run a game to see how well it runs (or 3dmarks).

All this is is a speed bump.

That, and all they do is swap CPU's.

This is what many are waiting for. I love the brushed AL casing..

Its the exact same speed. you dont need a damn benchmark!

The differences are going to be like comparing the Asus to the Abit NF4's. Miniscule to within the margin of error.

I think I'll hold on macbook for now. Find a cheap mac mini and a dell 24" monitor.

Seeing as the only hardware difference is an EFI bios (with the CS module added by bootcamp) and a TPM chip, yes.

Just dont run dos. LOL
