Think of the e6700 Wolfdale as an e5300 factory overclocked to 1066.

Except the Intel Pentium E6xxx series have Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) and the E5xxx series don't.

i'm on E5200 R0 stepping and it doesn't have Virtualization, i think the E5300 is enabled, though. :ohwell:

yep, thanks for the link: E5300 with spec #, SLGTL has VT-x enabled.

I like my E5200 M0, but it would be nice to have Virtualization available.

The whole Virtualization thing has been hilarious with Intel, they really screwed themselves(or rather Microsoft screwed Intel by requiring VT for Virtual PC and XP Mode).

I just find it funny that there are Core 2 Quad processors without VT, yet cheap ass Celerons with VT. Its so stupid.

Disabling certainly instructions sets and features on lower processors is nothing new, but I'm betting Intel is wishing they would just eliminated SSE4.1 instead of SSE4.1 and VT.

^ I agree, they should just make VT available to all their processors like EM64T but then again, not everyone needs VT.

i7 930 has me very interested, I assume it's 32nm so overclocking could be insano, can't wait till some TPU members get their hands on em and push them to the brink :toast:

Ramp up AMD

There is some unofficial commotion at AMD camp, expect more than a single quad CPU launch e.g X4 975, and earlier launch of 8xx chipsets by AMD. ;)

Pentium E6700??

I was expecting instead a new Q7000 or Q8000 series processor. Oh well, we don't need competition for Core i7, now don't we?? :shadedshu

I officially ask you to stop your "unofficial" crap in every other news thread.

seems with end of 2010 we going only talk about quad and six core, core 2 duo going to die

Multicore solution is one thing they are pushing through to circumvent the 16nm fab process limit they (intel) have been doom saying.. other chip manufacturers are also getting on the bandwagon (shader procs, cell processors, nVidia's upcomming graphic processing clusters, etc).. basically, they are still on track of consistently feeding us consumers this mindset of the more the better.

I would like to see some more MHZ,GHZ on these CPUs.This drop in more cores thing is just freakin boring!

I wish AMD would just release a damn 6ghz Quad and smoke all Intels "Add cores concept"

Yes I know people thought my comment on AMD was harsh but IMO the Athlon 64 was their golden moment.Instead of keeping that going they stuck to there boring ass roadmap as usual.

I just ordered the Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6500K to play with. I was also wondering why Intel was releasing another core 2 but i'm sure it's making them some $$$.

But the E6500K has unlocked clock multiplier and is only available in China, so it looked like a fun chip to round out playing on the 775 platform and it was only 100 so i am giving it a shot

should be fun...

E6500K (2.93Ghz)
