Haha for what reason should I choose 400 dpi accuracy if I could have 2400 instead? Doesnt quite make sense to me...

I think it's linked to the fact that at the lower DPI the mouse moves faster which is good for speed but at higher DPI it's more accurate but moves slower. Might be wrong, but that's the impression I get.

Edit: it's actually the other way round, as Slater told me in the post below.

Higher DPI it moves faster, maybe for games like UT2004, but lower DPI is slow and accurate, for when you're sniping.

But does anyone actually use 2400 DPI? I play UT2004 at 1800 DPI and it's great already, I'm not used to 2000 yet, and I think (just IMO) that 2400 is way high.

I'm very satisfied with my Logitech MX-1000 laser mouse, it has enough buttons to keep my left hand free for using only the arrow keys, kinda like the HOTAS system air force pilots use

i have a mx518 and 1600dpi is over kill for me. there are a handful of gamers who could really use the 2400dpi but that is a small group.

Same, I just got my mx518 not too long ago and the full 1600dpi is crazy sensitive to me.

am i the only person who likes non-ambidextrous mice? I like mine curved to my right hand, and big enough for my mitts! and heavy....

in my microsoft mouse have a clicking scroll wheel i would be so set

I don't like ambidextrous mice either, I feel comfortable w/ my G5, made just for the right hand. But this looks like a nice mice, and beats my G5, but to me, I don't care if it beats my G5 since I wouldn't use 2400 DPI anyway, but seems like a solid mouse though.

I dont like the mice with features. I love my mouse becausde it issimple. Plug it in and you are good to go. Mouse 1-3 and a wheel is great.

Well, ambidextrous mice probably aren't that bad, performance wise, but when it comes to comfort, the best ones are the ones meant for one handed use only, like the G5, G7, MX518.

Dpi ain't important, even the most hardcore high-sens gamer don't need any more than 1000 dpi. If you want the optimal tracking performance you have to match your mouse to your needs. The best mouse for low to medium sensitivity gamers is probably the IME 3.0(400 dpi, and a optical sensor that produces a lot of FPS), Medium to high-sens is a bit harder because you have alot of really nice mice in that class i.e. MX510, MX518, Diamondback.

If you wan't smooth tracking you need to look into how many FPS the optical sensor of the mouse can produce. If it has a lot of FPS then the replication of acceleration will become more precise and will enable you to make precise turns and stops.

No not really, if you want to do something precisely you need to be able to move the mouse very slowly you can't do that with a 2400 dpi mouse without turning the sensitivity way down under 800 dpi or lowering the sensitivity.
