My first LCD was a 19" Viewsonic that served me well. When I shopped around for a 1080p monitor, I wanted to go with another VS model. Unfortunately the neck design is too flimsy that it made the screen wobble too much! I decided to go another brand.

I'm planning on upgrading to >25" by year-end; looking at this model, I'm disappointed that the neck is still fragile looking...

It's such a shame they haven't brought out a higher res model - I guess that's probably down the line somewhere.

Oh, and who ever uses built-in speakers? Ditch them, Viewsonic, and shave a few ££ off the price.

I personally like their screens. Now they aren't the best, but for the price, they are good. I have one myself, pretty much bang for buck! The only problem I have with them is that stupid blue led that indicates that the monitor is on... Whoever decided it should be so bright should be shot! Its a pain sometimes, but I got used to it..

Considering it's 1ms, i'd say yes. But still, for 350 bucks, LCD of this caliber is a great price/performance. And it's a 27 inch monster!

^ ms rating differs by manufacturers. 1ms is a bold claim by VS. its a cool LCD, though.

I find myself wanting a bigger monitor eversince I started using an Xbox 360 Controller when playing Dirt2 on my PC

I don't get why if a monitor has a really good response time, their refresh rate doesn't match that.

Example: for this monitor, it could theoretically do 1000Hz.
Or for my desktop monitor, it could do (1000/5)= 200Hz

Most certainly. Still, it's hard to argue with that price.

But then again, make the screen with LED backglight, 120Hz and DisplayPort, and I'll pay double that for it.

They're really two different things. The refresh rate is how fast the pixels are told to change.

But then... how fast the pixel can responds to those changes is the pixel response time.

The shit part of it is how they play games with the pixel time listed - they measure the time it takes for a pxiel to go from one gray shade to another, not measuring color. In reality, if pixel repsinse time was truly even 10ms (that 1/100th of a second), you would not see any ghosting on the screen, but move your mouse around and it will leave a trail on almost all LCD monitors (that I've seen).

When I bought this monitor back in 2002 i thought that viewsonic was the worse trademark ever.
Now it is completely the other side. I love this monitor!!! 27" for 349$!!!!! Really cheap and crazy

It says it's an introductory price of 349. I'm guessing after a week, the original MSRP will be 400.

I don't see what's so impressive about 1920 x 1080 on a 27" screen. Now if you're going to look at just the response time, it's good, but it's probably grey-to-grey, which is the quickest one on every monitor anyhow.
Give me a 2560 x 1440 resolution 27" any day over this

All panels are the same either TN or IPS or some other rarer ones, but when they say LED, they usually mean that the backlight is LED rather than fluorescent. LED provides a much more even backlight, sometimes cheap screens use fluorescent and the screen appears brighter on one egde than others.

Don't really care much about contrast ratios anymore, LCD screens has matured to a point where any extra contrast ratio is most likely going to be purely for the sake of bragging rights, a bit like 5600dpi mice.
