Exactly what I have been wondering. That settles it, I don't yet have USB 3.0 on any of my systems, but I am buying a USB 3.0 flash drive anyway asap, just because they show significant benefits, even in 2.0 ports.

And dammit, Newegg still doesn't have any USB 3.0 flash drives listed. I have a $50 gift certificate I can use on one. They need to get on the ball here.

iv never seen usb 2.0 get anywhere near those numbers...

might be possible but you should take them with that in mind

if it does do that speed, then i will be getting a 3.0 device asap as well

I was just thinking how great this would be to put an O/S on for a nice quick install. I guess the question I have is.. (It may be n00bish) Would my onboard NEC USB 3.0 controller work at USB 3.0 speeds outside of the O/S without any drivers installed?

My usb external enclosures do around 40MB/s. Those are much more bulky than a nice tiny flash drive like this tho.

It's the boost in write speeds I am most interested in tho. I hate how slow my current thumb drives are in writing.

i recall a news article about a new 'codec' for lack of a better word, which was claimed to work on USB 2.0 and 3.0, for a greater boost in speed (less wasted traffic)

My guess, the controller in this flash drive supports that new 'codec' and therefore gets uber speeds on 2.0 as well as 3.0

Nice and fast, but way too bulky for a flash drive. It's like the width of 3 flash drives side by side. Might as well carry around a portable hard drive.
