G.Skill Displays Phoenix Pro Series SSDs

G.Skill displayed its Phoenix Pro series solid state drives (SSDs), while up the transfer rates slightly from its TRIM-supportive predecessor, the Phoenix. Making use of the SandForce SF-1200 processor, the Phoenix Pro features a custom firmware that makes the drive even speedier than most of the SandForce-driven SSDs in the market. Available in 60 GB, 120 GB, and 240 GB variants, the drives feature transfer rates of 285 MB/s (read) and 275 MB/s (write), and 4K writing performance of over 50,000 IOPS. It has the SATA 3 Gb/s interface, and supports the TRIM feature.

Man, I love my Phoenix drive! Sad that the pro gives the sata 3 with it. Wonder if they still have Samsung M chips on that as the do the Phoenix drive..

This is good but there are other drives at computex with 520 Mb/s read and write on the 6Gb/s controller.

are they raided bugga? Eitherway that is impressive read and writes and hopefully a bit lower on the price, Id love a 240GB one. Agreed on the Sata 3G though, was hoping new drives would be 6G as it is they are backwards compatible with 3g.

I like to run my Ubuntu 64bit on this and have fast net line that's my dream, who cares about Core i5 i7 or what ever, for internet is important only two things fast drive and fast line and that's about it, remember site is load from drive first so any delay from storage is slowing down the net or is 4k file or 4GB file.

Not always the truth- that's why we have Ramdisks- especially on Ubuntu.

The Read speeds are right on the limit of what SATA 3Gb/s can provide, so there would be no improvement by going with SATA 6Gb/s other than marketting.

if it were sata 6gbps, you MIGHT see a very slight increase in speed, nothing worth paying the price premium for though
